Jato Vs. Havoc
What’s going on everyone.... I'm brand new here I ran across this forum as I was doing a google on the Jato Vs. the Havoc. I was at the Traxxas website and was reading about the new Jato I went to Hobbytown and the manager was telling me about this new truck from Schumacher called the Havoc. Like the Jato it is RWD and is running 50+ out of the box. They're calling it a "stunt truck" I'm a fan of Traxxas but this Havoc has me pretty intriuged... It has a .28 engine one speed trans. It looks pretty tough. Has anyone drove one of these yet or can anyone give any opinions?
Thanks in advance! |
Havoc.
That simple. :) |
Yeah i'd say Havoc too.useless on a race track but then the jato isn't legal without mods so you'd get a losi or associated for that anyways.
it's alot of power for a light rwd truck though, traction will always be the limiting factor.easy out drag a jato though if you can keep the thing straight. I'd like to try the 11 port Sirio in that thing.Has a ball diff i think though which would concern me a bit, although if you keep it tight it should be OK.If it must be nitro though i think i'd get the losi AD2 for the handling or the HPI MT2 since it's 4wd. |
I saw that truck at the IHobby Expo in LosAngeles last week. The guy at the booth gave a pretty good presentation about it. It looked pretty impressive. Me and my brother were both impressed. I told the guy I may have considered it if it were 4wheel drive but he said they were going for more of a stunt truck with it and it performed better with 2wheel drive.

I'm also hearing very possitive things from the jato, it's very fast.
My guess is that it's lighter than the havoc, though the havoc i powered with a bigger engine. |
i would go jato...or get left behind. i think the jato will have much more after market items than the havok and it would be easier getting parts. although, i am not familiar with the havok. im assuming it will do about 80 or so knowing schumacher.

It could be geared higher than 50 i'd say with the right big block.(50 is plenty though)My LST can hit 45 with a sirio 11 port and that weighs 5.5 kg.You need to buy 3 gears at a time though i guess.i think the shumacher are not an internal 2 speed,it's multiple spurs and pinions isn't it? Jato you can change gearing by just a different clutch bell i think.
I think the sensible money goes on the Jato though,it's a known quantity and you can't really go wrong with it,and i guess the sirio .23 fits? if you feel the need for more power,i'm guessing it has as much power as traction on most surfaces already though. |
I too am a big fan of Traxxas. I have 3 Maxxas' (1 T & 2 E's). Having never driven either car, I can't say whch is better. I can tell you though I prbobably would have bought the Havoc on the spot if it were 4wd. It appeared to be a little more "beefed up" stock vs. stock over the Jato.

I have a Jato and despite some growing pains (new to nitro), i haven't regretted the decision to buy it.
I'm planning to run it on a dirt oval this weekend. It is supposed to be a big track (A friend of mine said about 200ft straights), so this should be fun. It won't be a race, but a test and tune because the track just got finished and they haven't set up the rules yet. We'll see if they throw me off the track. |
The Havoc is 1 speed (not 3 as some people think) maybe 3 speed will an option later on :-)
It's classed as a Stunt Truck & 1/8 scale... was originally 1/10 until they beefed it up, bigger engine/tyres etc Was supposed to be out this week but there been 1-2 weeks delay.. more info @ http://www.racing-cars.com/main.asp shummy homepage :-) & check: http://www.racing-cars.com/forum/for...841&PN=1&TPN=5 details of the tranny components... excellent quality imo compared to others :-) I dont plan on buying a Havoc simply because i already have 2 XTR's & just splashed out on a new FG MB Pro :-) |
Thanks for the info, drivetrain looks beefy to say the least, guess there's no need to worry about the ball diff.
