UE Axles and Dace Adapters
Hi
I am not an experienced modeller. So a few weeks ago, I have purchased the dace adapters and put them on my maxx. These adapters work really fine, I am satisfied with this. My question, the UE hexagons have a size of 14mm and the dace 23mm. Why UE do not produce hexagons which fit to their axles and have an outside diameter of 23mm? Of course with the dace it is solved, but with this solution you need less parts, have less weight and you have less things which can be broken. Or is it a strange idea? Cheers Gusti |
OH boy are you a strange one!:L:
Kidding, I think the major benefit to the adapters is the clamping action of the two peices. |
Yeah, they could have done it. It needs to be made from steel though, to keep the little hex that drives the whole hex in one part.
And steel is pretty heavy, unless it's machined down pretty far. The choice from the dace/ UE concept is pretty cool if you ask me. |
You would have to make the the nut out of steel. Which would add alot of weight to wheels. I think the two piece design is better for the simple fact you can change between the 14mm and 23mm easy.
