80MM led fan glued to computer heatsink on Feigao
 

Ok, this one is for Brian G and his no fan Insignia.

Here is my solution to my feigao 7XL heating up. I got one of those cheapie 3R racing fan heatsink combos. Then I glued an 80MM computer fan to it and here it is. My flying emaxx. How is that for some Bling Bling.

I finally figured out why most of you guys dont run the feigao motors and everyone is running a nue. It doesnt matter what wind you get, what speed you set it for, gear up, gear down etc etc, you just cant keep the temps down. I geared pretty conservatively for 38mph and it still gets hot on pavement, 180 degrees after 10 min or so.

If you look closely I have 2 heatsinks and the fan is only glued to one. I dont know how well it will work, but its just too hot where I am at to not do this.

I have a feeling Mike is going to be contacting me on this one. I can see it now, RC-MOnster heat sinks and LED FAN combos. LOL.

lol thats a fan ! You should put a giant balloon over it and it will fill up with hot motor air and take flight :party:

Dood ur getting picked on all over lately huh. Its pretty and I believe you can get slightly smaller ones. You should form them into a cube and encase the motor.

Hmmm your starting to give me ideas. I might be able to get 2 in there and do a push/pull configuration from left to right. I've got a bunch of 40mm fans on the way. Might just try to encase the motor. If that doesnt work I'm moving up the 120mm fans.
I'm just worried about what happens when the maxx takes a tumble. It could be a fan explosion.

No no, I think these people have the right idea. I think what would really work well is a fairly small 5000BTU room A/C unit blowing right across the motor and ESC. Of course, the A/C weighs about 30lbs, the DC to AC inverter a few lbs, and the extra batteries a several pounds also. Hmm, the extra weight might require an extra XL motor or two, and then more batteries/ESC, and maybe more A/C units to keep it cool. To get around the added battery and power inverter weight, you could just use about 500' of extension cord. While you're at it, mount a 100A/14.4v power supply to convert the AC into power the ESC can use.

So, figure around $10,000, but at least you saved a few dollars on the motor.

you could allways water cool it! im running 2 clip heatsinks with a 60mm fan and the motor stays around 150 feigao 9xl 22/65

I'm starting to think these motors are only good for boats. You have that endless supply of 70 degree water to cool things down.

$10,000??? The neu at 250 is starting to sound like a deal. I can just see that thing barrelling down my street at 50mph with dual AC units, one on each side.

Ive seen some pretty hokey water cooling setups for these things. As you can see from the pics, I like to keep things professional. LOL

BrianG is on to something. I just cut out the grill or something and the rear for the wing and let the air from 40-50 mph speeds cool my setup, that and the blood from innocent bystander's ankles and small animals.

I saw a water cooled t-maxx once, with a mini radiator and watercooled engine head on a nitro motor, with a mini reservoir and pump and everything lol.

I think 38mph is too fast for a feigao, especially a 7xl (I assume your running lower V than most).

I run an 11XL on 7s A123 at the moment, geared for 35mph and i cant get it too hot. Even out at the sand dunes, big open runs pushing through soft sand I think is about as hard on em as it gets. I do have a 2 speed though which probably helps... (revo 3.3 conversion). Won't stop me getting a MMM/neu combo though :P

There is one more reason why we dont run the feigoas...they have no torque. I have owned a 7xl an 8xl a 9xl and an xlt 7 nemesis motor and never knew what real power was until a dropped a neu 1515 2d in my 4s buggy...it reminds me of something nintendo says ''now your playing with power''.

untrue! my 9xl has enough torque to shread 3.3 drive shafts.
