Another E-Slayer Project

I always wanted an electric 1/10 scale 4wd truck, but no one made a decent one, Until now. Here is my Nitro Traxxas Slayer converted to electric brushless power. I pulled all the nitro stuff off, added an AE reciever box to the left side for my rx. It has been modified, mostly to improve the handling. I have added GTR shocks with varible piston valves, Jato dust covers, alloy shock ends, Aluminum pushrods that have been shortened to lower the CG, Platinum Revo carriers, Traxxas Center diff and rear brake kit. The center diff was designed for the Revo and is geared way to low for the Slayer's smaller tires, so I had to add a 34T spur and a 19T pinion to bring the gearing back closer to normal. I am using a Tekno battery tray/straps, Tekno tranny mounted ESC tray, Mamba Max ESC, external BEC, Neu 1515/1Y/F 2200kv motor and RC-Monster motor mount. This thing is a rocket now, and is still under geared slightly. The lowered CG and center diff make it handle more like an 1/8 scale buggy now. People keep mistaking it for a Slash, until I hit the throttle.

Nice conversion, how does it handle?I am in a middle of a converting my erevo to this but hope to see how well it handle.

btw what are those green push rods, looks nice....

They look like something from the Axial crawler.

JeffEmbracedDC 09.05.2008 09:58 AM

The motor is a bit overkill but man that looks like fun :)

Shark413 09.05.2008 01:03 PM

Hey guys,

Truckbasher, it handles much better than the stocker. With 4wd drive, lowered CG, center diff, and firmed up suspension it handles like an 1/8 buggy, except for the tires (traction not as good). I have 17mm adapters, so I could add buggy wheels, but I will stick with the stock ones for a while. The Pushrods are off my Axial Crawler, I replaced the suspension links with bent links so I had a bunch left over, just cut to length, and threaded Revo ballends on. I use the stock Revo washers (little red ones) to adjust the CG/ride height.

JeffembracedDC, yes the motor is probably overkill, it was in my Kyosho ST-RR and the front bearing went out. While I was waiting for it to be repaired I replaced it with the Tekno version. So when the Neu came back I had an extra motor so I figured why not try it in the Slayer.

Wow, very nice work!

I too just receive my Slayer yesterday and am waiting for more conversion parts to come in. Love the look and same deal with wanting a 1/10th scale 4wd truck over here too..

It's an E-Slayer revolution!!!

bruce750i 09.05.2008 03:42 PM

Nice ride. Are you shifting or locked in? Got any videos?

Shark413 09.05.2008 04:45 PM

Bruce750i, currently I am using the two speed. I had a BB Revo that I used with a locked tranny and it performed well, I may need to lock the Slayer as well because the Neu 1515 supplies huge amounts of power/torque. I have tons of gearing options (Traxxas wide/close ratio gear sets, 12T to 22T pinions, 34T to 40T spurs), so I would like to experiment a little with the gearing before I lock her down. The two speed does have disadvantages for track/racing, as the auto shift can lead to Inconsistency (shift in the middle of a turn, approach to a jump, etc.).

bruce750i 09.05.2008 05:38 PM

Yeah I locked out my revo too. I left the auto shifter in my E-Slayer. It just sounds cooler shifting.(street mostly) Mine pulls a wheelie when it shifts under power. Where do you get a 34t spur? How do you like the center diff in the slayer?

DRIFT_BUGGY 09.05.2008 06:33 PM

Looks good, will be lots of these coming out soon

TruckBasher 09.05.2008 07:40 PM

good to know about the wheels too bad I bought them already....but i think they still look good on the truck....

Shark413 09.05.2008 09:43 PM

Bruce750i, the spur is from Integy and comes in plastic or metal. I got mine at Towers.

Not to sound like a dumbass, but who is selling the slayer parts, specifically the arms and bumpers....

Your slayer looks killer Shark, Mine will be very similar, but I plan to use buggy wheels with badlands tires...

TruckBasher 09.05.2008 10:10 PM
