Fironi Center Diff
Has anyone ever used any of these diff's? Just wondering if they worth the money... that would be an expensive setup...

Wow, those are pricey. I've heard torsen diffs tend to be less durable though. I think I'll stick to regular bevel gear diffs for now.

I never liked any torsen-type diff. Aside from being pricey, they are also unpredictable and weak compared to the regular 6 or 8 spyder diffs.
This is based on my personal experience with the 1:1 torsens. |
those fironi diffs are more like this Xray Active Diff than a Torsen dif.
http://www.teamxray.com/teamxray/new...a4491ea8139be7 The Xrays difs are tough and hold up well, I would expect the same from the Fironi. Xray only make them for the front dif though. Nothings available for a center diff. Not sure why you would want one in the center to be honest. If you put one in the front it basically locks the diff uner power and makes it easier to pull hard out of corners, but opens up again off power and lets the car corner normally. Good for smooth tracks without alot of traction. Not so good for high grip tracks or very bumpy rutted tracks. |
Agreed with what Jeff said.
I tried the OFNA torsen diffs a while back - and actually tried the front center and rear. They are a real waste in the rear and center - they make the car very unpredictable on rough surface. From what I had read up on them they only make the biggest difference in the front of the car - and can be very helpful. The whole thing about cleaning them every few runs does get to become a real pain in the butt. I don't recall seeing that with the XRay active diff. |
Fioroni diffs are built with extreme precision. They're made in Italy and this is why they're so darn pricy. Even if they make a couple of screws for your kit, it'll cost some real money, and to tell the truth, they aren't that different from the other top of the line diffs( wheather torsen or regular). It's just that it is made in Italy and the quality of the material used. If Tamiya makes a torsen diff, too, it'll be as expensive simply because tamiya is a top notch manufacturer.
