Couple of ques. about the crt.5

I am awaiting delivery of mine and I was wondering...

1. how are the sidewinder esc's...I will only be running 2s with it.
2. will a sidewinder work w/a medusa 50 series motor?
3. if not a Medusa, what motor would you recommend for bashing mostly.

Thanks

I have had good success with my sidewinder escs. They are good for about 80amps cont. Depending on the desired top speed and weight you should be ok with the sidewinder. Which medusa and lipo are you planning to use?

Linc, I plan on running a 5k 2s MA pack or a 6400 True Rc 2s pack. No more than 2s though...my daughter has to be able to control it. I aslo on ly plan to run 2s so I can use them in my Losi XXX-4G.

The buggy has Mike's 40mm ext. chassis kit as well.

The Medusa 50mm motor is great in my crt.5. However to run 2s and have speed your prolly going to want the 4800kv model, that's what I'm using. This motor can pull a lot of amps and I'm not sure the sidewinder can handle that. The motor is rated at a max of 117A I think. I know after a 20 min run with mostly full throttle ahrd acceleration followed by hard braking, then turning around and doing it all over the MM gets a bit warm, about 170*

I have also had good luck with the sidewinders... but with that battery/motor combo it might be a *little* much. Your batteries can supply between 90 and 110a and the motor can definitely pull it. You could try a sidewinder but i'd keep an eye on temps. If you fried it I'm pretty sure it'd still be under warranty assuming you didn't make any mods (the crt.5 is "1/10th" scale, right?).

To be safe I'd probably go for a Mamba Max.

I have a Mamba Max and a Sidewinder for sale if you're interested (link in my signature)

IMO go with the MM. Will be more reliable and can def handle the load placed on it. VRT.5 is actually 1/12 scale but it is 4wd which places more load on it. For the extra $ the MM costs I think it's worth it, and if you wanted to run a hotter setup in the future you could.

I actually have a 6900kv cc motor...A bit too much on 2s I think

Agreed.

What if I went w/a sidewinder esc and a 6900kv cc motor?

I ran a MM and a 6900 motor in my ls10, which is similar to the crt.5 with Mikes chassis. It ran very hot, even with conservative gearing. I would stick with the MM and the medusa. 2s will be too much for the sidewinder with the 4800kv medusa.

thanks linc, you gave the same advise I was going to, I was just unable to respond first
