Seems like a serious setup. It depends on who's batteries you get. Companies like truerc and SPC conservatively rate their batteries so 10C from them might be better than 20C for some other companies. Overall though, you may need some pretty high end batteries for this one. Whatever you do, you might want to gear way down at first and buy one of those in series watt meters so you can see how much power you are pulling. 6S and 14 lb truck though could get you into some serious trouble if its not done correctly.

what do you mean it could get me into serious trouble and how can i see what power im pulling im not electrically minded what motor would you recomend does it need to be a lower kv rating for a heavier truck im looking at the true rc 11.1 5000mah 15c lipo 3s1p5000-15c or the zippy-r lipos of about the same rating |
That is a high amp motor better suited for 3-4s. You need to look at the 1515 1y at most and better would be the 1515 2.5d. I would place bets that with that motor on 6s in a 14 lb truck that you will see fireworks and not the good kind.

I run a 1515 1.5d in my erevo on 4s lipo. It runs well on 4s, but would not suggest running it on 6s. The 1y or 2.5d would be better suited to 6s in that heavy truck.
I have an aftershock converted to BL. I run a hacker c50 11xl (1500kv) on 6s lipo with a MMM. I am curently using a air of polyquest 4500 30c 3s lipos in series. Those batts are rated quite high, but will still get warm with this setup. I would say that a set of 5000mah 25c 3s lipos would be the minimum, and if I were to buy lipos again I would buy the polyquest 6000 25c 3s lipos. Unless you go with a large capacity pack, like a true rc 6s 8000 15c pack, the 15c-20c packs will not keep up. If you want to run the 1.5d stick to 4s, and you will need very good lipos. The polyquest 6000 25c lipos would be the best bet for a 4s pack. I would sell the motor and get the 2.5d and go 6s, that will yeild the best results with that heavy truck. |
@Lincpimp, what speed do you get with the Aftershock on 6s?

what type of cap would i need to use on the m/max i dont no nothing about these but i no you put them on the main power wires i wouldnt no where i could find one either im over in the uk i do use a ubec on the max all ready got this from mike do the small 25mm fans really help keep it cooler or shoul i go bigger like a 40 mm fan |
I didnt have good luck with the MM and 1.5d, I used a MM/1Y in my 10lb 8T and temps were always 140 maximum on MM 135 on 1y geared 17/48. The 1.5d made the MM go to 175 after 7-10 minutes of running then I would stop as I didnt want to melt it, temps of 1.5d were 150. I used a 25mm fan on the MM and a bec, no caps. Ive heard of guys drilling holes in the MM case and using a fan on the side aswell. I just gave up and waited for MMM, figured the amps were just too high in that setup

Depends on the gearing... The novak HV cap that is sold seperately works well .

You can buy a wattmeter for around 50 bucks from towerhobbies if you are curious to see how much power you are pulling. You just put it between the battery and esc and you can get amps, volts and power. I think these guys answered your question. That motor is more of a 4S motor than 6S. Sorry I didnt answer quicker, I lost this thread.
