so i had an interesting discussion today

turned out to be a pretty sweet idea, so far! we will see, instead of using a ubec, run a servo plug off of the balance tap!:yipi: no more bec's to fail, less wiring, no charging rx packs, and it shouldnt pull to much from the two cells, as long as you rx can handle the voltage you are fine, nitro guys run 2s lipos all the time:wink:

That will increase balance time on the pack, but as long as you vary the cells in the pack that you run off of,it could work. But my balancer only balances at 120 mah so for me it could take awhile.

2 cell lipo with a voltage regulator.(6v) The rx may handle it, but the servo will fry at 7.4volts. I use one in my baja 5b.

you would still need a ubec or similar to regulate the voltage, unless you were running LiFe, 6.6v is ok for most rx/servos i think.

nope servo and reciever can handle it, spektrum reciever is what i have , and airtronics servo, both good for over 8v

Sammus 09.10.2008 09:32 PM

sweet, go crazy man :yipi: just be sure to monitor cell balance - maybe have your lvc set a little higher to compensate. At those higher V's. the servos will also be drawing more current, and if your one of the guys that manages to get 40min+ runtimes, I think you could easily drain 1 or 2Ah in that time.

I have been contemplating getting a regulator and using 2 cells out of the pack to provide the juice. Who makes a good regulator?

big greg 09.10.2008 09:46 PM

i wont be running that long lol, 20 mins at a time sometime, but i will be monitoring it to see, if this works it will save alot of headache

Dimensionengineering makes some.

But, can the MMM brains handle it? (unless your internal one still works)

nah, didn't you know? if you look at them the wrong way they usually explode in a hellish ball of flames. Sometimes they cause so much carnage it makes the LHC look like a babies toy.

I have ran servo's off of a 2s a123 pack and it was glitching and had shutdown problems... i used it once and said 'screw that idea'.
