8XL gearing on erevo
 

have an 8XL, monster clamp on MMM v2 (waiting for repair).
4S Maxamps 8000HVs.

want to know what the best gearing is? currently i have a 68T spur.
I have 20T 22 and 24T pinions.

i have used the tool to estimate some things however i wanted to know what people have actually used and had good results with?

I started with an 8xl and MMM in my REVO. 68/20 is really fast still and you may want to try a smaller pinion. I wound up destroying the motor which took out the MMM v1 as well, motor got way to hot on this gearing.

exactly the kind of stuff i wanted to hear. i was running a 6xl and 20/68 and the motor was getting too hot but the v2 esc seemed fine until it just stopped after the third outing.

I would try a 17-18t and if temps are ok you could try a 62t spur since spurs are a lot cheaper. I also must say, start saving for a better motor!
