What's Castle Creations policy on when their factory defective components cause failure of other components?

For example: If my MMM fries and takes out my $140.00 JR9100T and $85.00 Nomadio tranceiver?

Or.. if my CCBEC burns out and does the same thing?

Luckily I have not had this happen to me.. but to be confident in continuing use of such products it's something that would be good to know.

There are some guys that experienced what you just described. I wondered if CC replaced their servos too.

I highly doubt they will.

I haven't heard of anyone getting there parts replaced that was cause by ESC/BEC

I just chucked some 8$ HC metal servos in there to get going (perfect fit for Traxxas).
Probably should just use cheap gear for testing the MMM as I see no hope that they
would be able to warrant/prove other parts affected by that SoB.

They don't replace components. I had a CCBEC fail and deliver full voltage to all my parts in a heli. 3 $100 servos, a $90 RX and a $350 gyro burnt. No refund except for the BEC. I sold it and bought another brand.

Ouch!

Now thats enough to make you really mad.
Especially when its only $20 item thats faulty.

I just got my 2 replacements bec's.When they failed they took about 200 in servos with them. I got no reimbursment,but they did replace my mm for free even though I was running it on 4s when it went. I found some good deals on ebay for my replacement servo's and am really up in the air about whether or not to run the new bec. I mean a 30$ servo is nothing to lose sleep over , but if it failed again and left my vehicle servo less I could end up getting upset. They also told me to run 1 with the MMM that I got replaced also,so that really leaves me wondering, I mean what are the chances that they will both go out again and leave me monster truckless? Probably to high these days.

Asheck, when CC told you to run the MMM with a BEC, did they tell you to do the mods, cut the red wire or leave everything intact on the MMM?

Actually what they said was ,with the bec I had a slimmer chance of failure.Then you would just unplug the red wire.No other mods were discussed.I'm sure they would not tell me to go home and do mods that could/should be handled already.

Anytime you deal with aftermarket parts, you MUST proceed with the knowledge that you are your own warranty provider. For quite some time, I have been "hot rodding" my trucks, and I frequent the applicable forums that deal with Dodge diesel pickups. You wont believe the number of people that put aftermarket injectors or a chip in their truck, and when a piston melts, or a turbo shreds, they want someone else to cover the cost of replacement parts (beit Dodge or the manufacture of the aftermarket parts). Yes, if your particular item malfunctions, the manufacture should cover the item itself, but not the remainder of your vehicle.

Logical, but still a shitty deal really.

Where's Brian and his over-voltage protection device he was designing when you need him...

What about using 2 BECs in series? Maybe set the first one to 6.5v and the 2nd one to 6.0v.

Any thoughts?

I was just thinking about that the other day when I was cleaning my workbench and moving my experiment breadboarding box. My little bro came over for vacation (from Maine where I used to live) so no time for that this weekend. And then, I am currently in a fairly large home renovation project (ripping out and installing carpet, painting, cleaning, etc since the parasite (ex) moved out) so time is a valuable commodity in short supply. If I get some time next week at work, I'll throw together a schematic someone can try out if they want. But actually breadboarding the circuit will have to wait.
