Another strange MMM observation in behaviour
i have left my revo with the MMM sitting idle for 1 week. i recently rotated the mounting of the motor which required me to disconnect the wires from the esc. today i decided to charge up my Yeah racing 2s lipo for a quick spin. when i connected the battery to the esc i noticed a small spark from the connectors. hoping i hadn't inadvertently fried it i powered it on. it powered up with the first set of 4 tones but not the final set of tones, also the fan kept spinning faster and faster. the red and orange lights flashing on the esc were on but no response to radio input only the reverse mini servo initializing and thats it. i then decided to hook up the castle link to check the settings on the esc. the link hooked up well and then just did an update to ensure all settings were saved. i didnt make any changes but wanted to make sure they were saved anyway.after that, the esc was fine. i thought mine had bought the farm for sure but i hope its not a sign of things to come.

wow, are your liops ok!?
one week at idle can do alot of damage are you running a BEC or the internal setup |
no you mis-read my post. by idle i meant with it switched off with no use at all.

I'm assuming you don't have the LVC set? If you have your LVC set for a 4s pack and plug in a 2s pack.. well.. it may do what you're describing.

the lvc was set for 6.4 on the 2s. lets hope this behaviour is a one off...maybe.

I would recommend to:
1. Re-sync your Rx to your Tx 2. Re-sync your tx/rx to your MMM 3. Reset all the MMM settings 4. Change the batts all over/ recharge them all 5. Check all your connections, and double check. I just had my MMM give the same symptoms, and the culprit was a crossed wire inside one the board. |
How much voltage due you run it on? 7.2v? or 14.4v? What JeffEmbracedDC said basically.
|
the li-po is only 7.2v. i just got some evo 25 flighpower packs off ebay real cheap. they are 11.1v, but when i got them they look so small. can i safely run these on my truck? one at a time? parrallel? not at all. they are 2200mAh @ 11.v. i got 2 of them. i am thinking of running them with my lipo sack around them just in case...
guys? |
Dunno if it would cause this, but isn't there a minimum voltage rating on the MMM? Like 3S (11.1) or 10V?
Edit: With those 25C 2200 packs you should run them in parallel for use in a MT. One pack is only good for 55A (610W) continuous. If you only run one pack I think it would get pretty warm. If not, worse. |
You can run them w/o the lipo sack, just set your cut off voltage at 3.2v a cell. 3s for 11.1v with a cut off of 9.6v or 6s for 22.2v with a cut off of 19.2v. But really they are a little small. I've ran two 1800 3s in parallel (3s2p=11.1v) in my rustler, but they acted a little undersized for my setup. What motor do you have on it? IDK either about the minimum voltage.

If my reciever is not putting out a neutral signal (as in it's not on), my Castle controllers will not initialize. They will give you the first few tones, and maybe count cells, but won't do the final ready to go tones. The fan will keep running until the controller finishes initialization.

so now the V3 is in and up and running like a champ. i fitted my hitech 645 mg servo for steering, however when i went to put the other 645mg for the throttle/braking the unit wouldnt initialize/arm at all. i reversed the channel and no luck either way. i put the original traxxas one back in, which i assume is a generic hi-tec maybe and it works like normal. i would understand if the steering servos didnt work, but they do. so i am not sure whats up with the throttle servo... any ideas? i even lengthened the arming time to 2 and 2.5 seconds also. no luck. for now the generic traxxas one will stay in there until i figure it out.
|
Is it a working servo?
|
yes both work fine and are brand new, even swapped the working steering one with the one i wanted to use for the throttle/brake...no change.
|
I'm not too familiar with how mechanical brakes work in parallel with an ESC. Do you use a Y connector?
