R1Pro -vs- R1 -vs- Mamba Max

Hey, guys. So I'm trying to decide on an alternative to the MMM. My favorite choices so far would be the Tekin R1 series and the Mamba Max. I'd like ot get everyone's opinions. I generally run in warm to hot weather (southern Texas). I plan to do common mods (added capacitance, fan, ccbec) to any of these options. I will be running 4s in a Losi 8ight with a Neu 1512/2D/F

Can I use the Tekin R1 for 1/8th applications or only the R1Pro? I have noticed on the R1 the brushless motor limit is 5 Turn, 36mm can where as on the R1Pro there is no motor limit... Has anyone used the R1 in a 1/8th project?

Any comments would be helpful.

-Jeff

I know jhautz has used the R1Pro in a buggy, and Mike says that it can handle 5s in a buggy easily.

As long as CC aren't screwing up the MM, I would say go with it. It is cheaper, and since you plan to run an external bec and a fan and capacitor it should work fine. I have 7 or 8 MMs and they all work great all the time on 4s. And they are cheap...best feature IMO.

I'm having trouble with my new MM on 5s. Old one works fine though.

$300 plus esc for 5s? It is small, and appears to work. I will stick to 4s and a MM. Cheaper, battery weight is lower, and repairs cost 50 bucks... Repair times on the other hand...

9 weeks to get my replacement MM.

My vote goes with a Modded MM.

Id rather do a Tekin R1PRO.. Cant beat it! Its the coolest esc out there IMO.

Its 250 bucks as far as I remember, but then a Ubec, and hotwire. So its about 300.

Im thinking about selling my MMM and getting a R1 Pro

BlackedOutREVO 09.14.2008 05:41 PM

Wow, nice! I get dealer cost, and its 170. So I wonder if the overall price has gone down now?

Those went down 40 bucks! Nice!

250 was referring to the r1pro wit the mod

Well Amain is the only one I have seen at that price. Other shops are $220+

BlackedOutREVO 09.14.2008 05:54 PM

Hmm, I will have to look into this.

Still though, if people want the R1PRO, buy it now! Thats a awesome price! Especially if you have discounts for amain

I highly doubt griffinru is doing the mod that cheap. It has to be at least 100 bucks for the mod, case and all. Plus 20 bucks for a ubec, so around 300 total. Plus the hotwire is 30 bucks...

Hopefully CC will get the MMM working well, as I have about 150 for each one right now. Damn good deal...
