erevo heat issues

First off here is the setup. Erevo with 9XL, MM, 8000 True rc, 20/68 gearing. I cannot for the life of me get my temps down. Both the motor and esc heat up quickly within the first couple minutes to around 200 or just under. I originally had started with a higher gearing and was having problems so I have geared down to 20/68. Should be plenty low enough. I was having no problems running this setup before in a revo conversion with higher gearing17/36(mod 1). No heat issues what so ever with that setup. The only difference is motor brake as opposed to mechanical. I've checked the truck over for drivetrain drag, lowered the timing, disabled reverse. Don't know what else to try. Could the esc be bad? Any help would be much appreciated.

COuld also be a motor problem causing the heat

Motor is brand new.

Those fiego motors run way too hot. Likely you'll find that is the source of all you problems. You may be able to gear it way down to keep the ESC cool enough, but the motor will still be hot. I ran a 7XL for a while and finally ditched it due to these issues. Now with Neu motors, zero heat issues....

Motor mounting screw possiblly touching the windings inside the motor? That would heat things up quick!
