Custom 1/4 Dragster Build

Ive decided to pursue my biggest project yet. A 1/4 dragster. My setup will be...

Chassis, Yes a dolly... "Very modded, towing plate removed and front handle removed and rear end axle will be lowered"

Engine, 30cc CY w/ Xcan "4.8hp"

My idea was to run the rear axle threw the bearing on the lower end of the tranny and hook a gear onto the shaft with two flat spots. The whole rear end will be solid w/o suspension and the front will have suspension.

I still need help on deciding what arms, front wheels & tires & body to use along with it. It will weigh around 35lbs when fully loaded. The 30cc CY should handle that with ease. Its going to be geared for torque.

Any help with this build will be appreciated.

Im also thinking about running chain drive from the clutch bell gear to the solid axle gear. It would make more sense going about it this way.

Ambitious I must say. Will be an interesting build none the less, unless that is of course, you change your mind..........

again, then again, and maybe at least once more.....

call it the dolly lama!

Takedown 09.27.2008 09:45 PM

Haha, knowing me I just might do that. But seriously, I cant sell the motor so I might as well put it to use and seeing how this build wont be that pricey it might be worth it.

But ya we'll see what it amounts to. If I buy the dolly which I probably will I will definately finish the project.

subscribed.....should be pretty cool looking....i foresee a ton of welding in your future...

Takedown 09.27.2008 11:28 PM

Their will be some welding involved for sure. I still have to test out my welding skills.

Takedown 09.27.2008 11:31 PM

I think I found a welder kit...

this is interesting.....

I bet we wont recognize the dolly once you completed the project...

Takedown 09.27.2008 11:35 PM

I hope that its unrecognizable so that people wont be asking "hey is your chassis made from a dolly?" Its our little secret...

Takedown 09.27.2008 11:47 PM

I want to know how much they would sell the body for?

Could this be an easier alternative to the back breaking work of moving?

Takedown 09.28.2008 12:18 AM

God, I knew you guys would make fun of me for this idea.

Do it. I think a chain drive would give you more motor mount and gearing options.
