E Savage Setup recommendations?

Hi, I'm new, and don't know very much about 1:10 brushless setups (I have mambas in my 18th scales and in my xmod though). Anyway, I've always like savages, but not nitros, and found a conversion kit for 160 bucks (pretty sure it includes batteries). Anyway, I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on what I should throw in. I was thinking about waiting for the Mamba monster maxx, but it might be awhile until that's out. I do not want a novak system (want to stay sensorless). Anyway, any help would be much-appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Viper!

did you tried searching though? there are a huge number of topics about this e-savage thing, and even more on a proper setup for one!

that 160 dollar conversion kit you are talking about is probably from rc-boyz and it includes battery trays and no batteries. Correct me if i am wrong.

a good motor/controller combo would be a 7XL on 16 cells. (or any number from 12-18)

Most people here will recommend you the 7-8 or 9XL depending on the amount of power you are looking for. a good way to get to know the power of BL is by using the combo i pointed out on 16 cells. Nice, and faster than nitro. (end less noise too :p)

you could make your own motor plate and battery trays, and use the stock 2 speed transmission with the mechanical brake.

But like i said, please do your search thru the forum.. it's worth the journey and i am sure that it answers about 90 percent+ of your questions!

Please share the questions you have got, we will be here to help you out!

Yeah, it's the RC Boyz one. If there are no batteries, why is it so expensive? Does it include an auxillary tranny or something? Would I need the tranny for the RC Boyz conversion?

It uses a shaft that replaces the one way bearings in the transmission, so you are able to brake on the motor. Like i said, you could make your own motor plate and battery trays, and use the stock 2 speed transmission with the mechanical brake.

Why is is so expensive? don't know, pop them an email, here in Europe the kit is 115 dollar.

price for a BL savage;'
-charger+powersupply about 150 dollars
-BL setup 295 dollars
-batteries about 120 dollar a set, 2-3 sets needed)

-savage donor+needed hopups.

I have the 7 cell packs leftover from my old emaxx and a pirahna charger, so I'm good there for now. I'll go straight to li-po from there. I'll have to see what other money I can dig up. I hope I can afford all of this.

Yep, one in the same. I almost traded you my Zilla for your Maxx. And on that debate, it dpends on if you're racing or bashing. Personally, I don't go to off-road tracks, so it's the Savy for me. If I went to tracks, I'd convert a truggy.

I remember u! lol, my good old e-maxx!! first electric mt! I traded ta long time ago!

Would the Feiago 9L be an ok choice? I would one with a Warrior 9920 for 200 shipped.

MetalMan 11.17.2005 01:23 AM

It won't be a bad motor for a Savage.

Serum 11.17.2005 02:20 AM

I would use a 7XL or a 10L, but that 9L is able to move it too

How many cells are you planning on using?

14 cells and eventually li-po. I think it might be sold by now.

I think he snatched it up. I asked the question, refreshed the thread, and nbc said it was sold, but don't know if he paid yet. Also, it's a feiago, not a Nemesis...

squeeforever 11.17.2005 11:23 PM

i've never seen a blue feigao. only wanderer and nemisis. the one he showed was a blue canned motor. i assumed nemisis.
