My crawler
Hey guiys, pretty new to crawling, i havent had much experience but i have made a frew mods
4-link in front and rear Bent links in front and rear FIRST attempt at brazing a frame. decided to build it because i was tired of bodies damaging ...well thats about it:yes: Few Weeks ago http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0071.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0072.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0077.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0078.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0080.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0087.jpg I changed some things up in the past few days. Packed everything inside the main body and took off the aluminum plate on top. Also limited the suspension a bit more http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0327.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...e/IMG_0332.jpg |
Very Cool Andrew I like the tube chassis.. What weight are you running in your tires  I'm using 1.6 in each of the front and 1.3 in the rears. I just love my bad lands (same as yours) cough. LOL..
Your might want to consider a full droop suspension, Also I've got some killer sites posted on the linc above if you have the time and the $$$.. So let’s see some Video’s :intello: Did you join a club yet / have you gone out and climbed with your buddies ??. Sorry I'll stop.. Great truck, please keep us updated on the progress.. Have a great one Sir.. Shaun. P.S. How do you like your limited articulation ??. and for god sakes man WHY ??  |
Nice job on that chassis. It looks tough. A crawler is on my list of projects, too. Did you inflate those tires somehow, or is that due to the narrow wheels? They look like balloons!

I tried a full droop but really didnt like how it felt... and no i havent been out crawling with others. i go to my LHS that has a rock course. really nice to have consistent lines for testing. But i doo need to make some friends:lol: HAHA i found that crazy artiiculation just got me in bad positions. so i limited:na: Nitro: naw, i have star cut foam in there. you know the camera adds 15 lbs  and the cage is MUCH tougher than the lexan bodies, but it is getting bashed on pretty bad, starting to not be square |
Nice looking build Andrew. Your tuber looks real solid.
And you are most surely correct, TOO MUCH articulation only looks good in pictures. It will definately get you into trouble on the trail. How are you running your shocks now? Springs, Oil weight, limiters? I noticed you mentioned that you had tried "full droop". Do you have any breather holes in your Axial wheels? Have you been able to get your crawler on the rocks yet? I've managed to place better at each event I go to. I've also managed to put about $700 into my crawler. Now my silly a$$ is thinking about going MOA with HR axles. :gasp: Here is a pic from my first crawl. I'm running the RustlerVXL body on the left. We are averaging a little over 20 crawlers per comp. these days. http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...13-08_0239.jpg |

There is a 1/4" spacer inside under the circle thingyy:lol:, and another 1/4" outside on the shaft on each wheel. Man, i really needt o go to a crawling comp! but jsut sooo busy!! |
Thats really cool Andrew, nice tribe Shocker. They have a good gang of crawlers out here in the NW Chicago burbs, hope to get in on it if I ever get my other 14 trucks running right heh
