im wondering, if it would be easyto make one, i have an idea, of i want it to conecct to the bosy mounts so i can take it on and off really easly!.

im thinking of using tubes, or 1/8" steel ( dont want to make it wiht alum becasue i have a steel welder and for me welding alum is hard vs steel.) what im tinking is that: the 1/8 sheet would go inbeetween the 2 front body mounts, and then make holes for the mounting part to go though then use a pin. and connect steel tubes from the front piece to the handle (myn is stock), use some cotter pins, and make hole in the tube that is right over the handle, and you know bend the cotter pin. then from the handle to the rear body mount. im thinking a 1/8 sheet over the motor but still axess able to the plug. then go to the mounts, use a sheet in the back just likein the front. and connect it with tubes again...

i may try to draw it up, but i may not be able to...

but if you have other ideas and better salutions please tell me... i dont like to waist money, my money is very valuble to me. :lol:

and it has to be steel, and i dont want to be very expensive... and i have seen some, and there too expensive. :lol:

First, if you use steel, you are going to at least double the weight of your truck.
Now, if you are dead set on it, .125 PL is way too thick for all that you are describing. I'd be looking for something between .03 to .063. But even that is going to very heavy.

but will 1/8 alum hold up to 35' drops on it's top?

and if i get a 3'-3' sqare alum 1/8in thing of alum, ho much would that cost roughly?

A sheet of AL or steel that big is going to cost more than purchasing a roll cage premade.

But, a 35' drop? What are you trying to build, a tank? That's the same as dropping it from a 4 story building. If you are serious about building this to do that - then yes, use steel. But you are going to sacrific your performance to take it.

i priced the stuff, at the local home depot. and the lsh. they have alum tubeing and solid tube... the steel is WAY to heavy!!!! i didnt relize how heavy, geez!!! :gasp: :lol: i must have checked the weight with two of the smaething of alum :lol:

im using alum! hands dow, once im done the car would be 20lbs heavyer! :gasp:

so yea, i have thot of a simple one... use about 9ft of alum tubeing, that would put me at a cost of... $9.27 est and from home depot it would have been $15-20... lol, same stuff just diff price LOL... so yeah :lol::oh:

When jumping, I have found aluminum can bend very easily, for example this is how my 1/8 aluminum skid plate started out as.

I am not sure how 1/4 aluminum would behave, if that is an option.

I do not think that steel is an option for sure it is way toooooo heavy. Aluminum is a better choice, and if you construct it correctly it will do pretty well, but everything has a breaking point. Maybe if you build some kind of shock absorbing system into the cage it will survive what you are doing to your truck. Have you taken a look at the "RC solutions" roll cages? They are pretty cool looking and seem to hold up better than most. Good luck with your choice.:lol:

so yeah. im gunna do the arch tequneeque (not spelt right lol) so the stress will go to the body mounts :D
