For the dollars your forking out you could get your own small cnc machine of e-bay..... you just gotta know how to use it.

after i get this up and running i am going to look into having it mass produced!...the design is very simple...it is plate aluminum and carbon fiber!.....cha-ching!

Is that part made from polycarbonate/Lexan? If so, would you want it to be made from polycarbonate again? Or maybe aluminum for greater strength?

plettenbergs 10.05.2008 03:03 PM

yes i want aluminum or carbon fiber!...great question....can you make it?i would like for it to be like a square box over all for corners of the top of the servo

BL_RV0 10.05.2008 03:16 PM

MetalMan is exactly that. MetalMAN! Of course he can make it!

MetalMan 10.05.2008 06:07 PM

I am not quite sure I understand what you mean. Are you wanting something that will completely encase the servo, and then mount to the upper deck? Just FYI I don't have a mill or any real milling capabilities, and I also much prefer to not work with carbon fiber (it's not friendly to my tools or me).

plettenbergs 10.05.2008 07:32 PM

i dont care if it is carbon...aluminum is fine!...i just wanted something to fit over just the top of the servo to hold in place well...an exact copy(from metal) of what i have would work fine...do you have a better idea??...i am open to suggestions...i will make at least one run of 10 prototypes and you can have a shot at one if you lke!!

If you make the chassis let me know.. I like one offs!

very nice, pm me when you're selling the chassis, i'd want one.

as for the servo hold-down thingy, are you just wanting to replicate one in alum?

shouldn't be hard to do, get a piece of plate alum, cut it to the right shape (waterjet or laser) then just get the threads cut into it.

Here's what I made for you, let me know if you want it.

I'd be interested in a VBS chassis :intello: Just a suggestion, if you get it produced, maybe get the battery trays widened so that the lipos do not have to hang over the edge. Some kind of carbon fibre lip would be cool. Also along the top rail you could make some space for ESC mounting?

my 2 cents, let us know what happens :rules:

P.S Oh, and in the pic, are they SPI rims on the Lightning?
