Single VS. Dual
Hi guys,
I'm new to brushless motors and was wondering how 2 brushless motors (e.g. Velociti 5.5R) on 6 cells compare to a single brushless (e.g. HV-Maxx) on 12 cells in an Emaxx? Any advantage to one over the other besides the cost of a single motor setup? |
Dually gives way more torque, your driveline has to be bullet proof.
But a single is almost just as powerfull, only with less torq(still enough to cause driveline problem's if these aren't upgraded). Looking at the 9xl on 18 cell's does get you allot of speed and torq, you won't need a dually. But it is darn cool lookin IMO. |
I take a single setup over a dual setup any day.
single simple is the way to go. more powerfull and more efficient. a dual 9L setup on 2X14 cells or a single 12XL or something like that on 28 cells.. the 12XL will be lighter and more efficient than two 9L's |
Even with 2 Novak 5.5s, they will lack what the E-Maxx requires. The main advantage (IMO) to a single motor is the lower weight due to fewer batteries. And since there would be less weight, there is less stress on the vehicle, making parts less likely to break, and putting less stress on the motor.

It is about the power that the batteries can deliver minus the electrical/mechanical losses. this in relation to the weight of the truck makes single with the same amount of cells more interesting than a dual.

But dually give's way less stress on the esc and motor's. That aside, single is better.

Take it from me, I am running dual 9L's with 28 cells and the only thing it has going for it (other than mother loads of torque) is the cool factor. If you plan on racing or even just bashing, the single is the way to go. A dual setup with all those cells is just too heavy (mine is 14.5lbs), which makes it unbashable imo.

no, single is less stress on the esc, because it uses a bigger esc and more cells, it is running more efficient so the motor is getting less hot too |
It's a pity there's no dual motor brushless esc for clods,daggers,4wd pedes and such like.The evx sends all the volts to both motors right? Could a brushless esc be built that does that?
But yeah,on an e-maxx definately go single,more power and efficiency for the same weight.They're not excactly short of torque anyways,just get a bigger motor and esc. |
It is done, hooking up two motors on one esc. But those two motors need to be mechanically connected to each other.
It is not recommended to do this though In the clod it is not possible to do this, because the motors are not connected mechanical |
