Brushless Vendetta 100KMH :: 62MPH
A few days ago I bought a Duratrax Vendetta from a nice guy. I will get it in a few weeks. ( Needs to go from USA to Netherlands )
Anyway, I want it to let it go 100+ km/h, thats 62+ mph. With the stock gearing. There is already a Sidewinder ESC in the car and a brushless Align 430L 3550kv motor in it. ( http://www.hooobby.com/430l-brushles...cm-bl430l.html ) This brushless motor can go up to 14.8 volt, so a 4s LiPo. Do you guys think I will get the 100kmh/62mph with a 4s LiPo with stock gearing? Or do I need to buy another motor? If so I would like to buy a 1100 series from NEU, which one do you think will be the best for this little car? :smile: Thanks! |
I realy think that the problem will be your drive train. The Vandetta drive train is all plastic gear, so if you put a Neu 11xx on 4s, i'am sure that your drive train will last for about 10':neutral:

I could buy a special brushless pinion, they also have a aluminium drive differential and I bet there are more hop-ups for the drive train.
So I think that wouldn't be the biggest problem... |
No, it wouldn't. The biggest problem will be controlling the car at that speed. :wink:
|
It may be possible to run it at that speed but only if the space you run it is absolutely smooth and flat.

I run the same exact motor with a Quark 33 on 3s lipo in my Vendetta ST. The drivetrain holds up fine, but that was after I did a bit of shimming (I shimmed the internal differential gears that are pressed on to the outdrives). The outdrive gears have very shallow teeth, so it's easy to strip them if you accidentally spin out a few times. I simply placed very thin (.1mm) shims on the outdrives, then pressed the gears on to get the mesh ever so slightly tighter.
Drivetrain handles it just fine. I'm geared with a 15 tooth pinion and the stock spur; the car is probably only doing a modest 35-40mph, but it's a squirrely little bugger. I can't even imagine it at 60+!:lol: |
This is what happens when you go too fast. Scroll about 3/4 through the page and click: Project Full Speed Ahead - street beat

Which NEU motor would be good for 2S/3S, and I would get the 62MPH? Thanks! |
The Sidewinder should be able to handle 4s with an external BEC. Haven't tried it myself, but would like to some time.

I think linc ran a SW on 4s. I think he said it'll work if the setup doesn't pull too many amps.

It's a bad idea to get a mini going that fast unless you have a good, high downforce body and a few wings placed in proper areas...:mdr: |
Pretty extensive bl motor testing on the Vendetta ST - includes the Neu you are looking for -

I put an 8500kv neu in my detta on 2s. I never took a speed reading but it was damn fast. I would guess 50-60mph, but I'm not sure.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S32YX7e01cE Jaejw1 has a Neu too. His videos should be on the related videos on the side. I was going to get another Neu or a Medusa to run on 4s but I lost interest in the scale. You can get steel diff gears and if you have steel cvds you're set. The plastic ball diffs held up fine for me. |

I'm still searching a good body with many downforce, I thought about the body from a Robitronic Scalpel, the only problem is that the wheelbase from my vendetta is bigger.. So if somebody knows a good body, please tell me! :yes: |
