I'm pissed!

I bought a MM5700 motor about 2 weeks ago, ran 2 8cell nimh 3300 packs, I was geared a little high so temps were 170* and this happens, I threw out the receipt by accident and now CC says that they wont warranty it!!!!!:grrrrrr::grrrrrr:

the only way that this could happen on an new motor is a manufacturing defect

you ran it at 16 cells?
or 2 different runs with the 8 cells?

i had the same problem with one of my mm motors...

luckily castle replaces them pretty cheap..

whitrzac 10.09.2008 01:51 PM

2 diffrent runs on 8 cells, I just bought a NEW still sealed 4600 for $52(rctech), it cost $45+$5 shipping to send it to castle

So then I guess the lesson learned is to keep receipts at least until the warranty period expires?

Why can't you contact the place you bought it and have them reprint your invoice?

well they should know you bought it recently and at least be able to get you a reciept with a date "close" to your purchase date. It would be a good move for them considering you chose to support them over someone on the internet. (which would have probably been cheaper for you and you'd would have a digital receipt saved on your computer)

emaxxnitro 10.09.2008 05:20 PM

yeah buying off the i-net has its adv. but i still like to support my lhs when i can. castle should fix it for free

lutach 10.09.2008 06:52 PM

That's why I always say to wrap the rotor with Kevlar to prevent just that from happening.

brushlessboy16 10.09.2008 08:39 PM

or just buy a better motor.

CC motors aren't that bad, I ran my 5700 to nearly 80k RPMs and the rotor is still intact. Just a fluke accident that will be replaced for free if he can find the receipt. Otherwise, IIRC, it's $40 to have the motor fixed.

$50 bucks toward a medusa 50mm motor...

Arct1k 10.09.2008 11:09 PM

Looks like a classic rotor failure which is rare for CC - It is worth $5 to put it in the post...

If CC won't replace it though, lincpimp was on target about the Medusa. If CC will replace the motor it's worth doing but otherwise get a new motor.
