I’ve been hacked!...
Just and FYI team, I closed out my PayPal, credit cards and banks accounts yesterday.. I’ll open them up somewhere new in the next few days with all new numbers.
:grrrrrr: I found out early yesterday that I put down payment on home in Iawa, I'm a co-signer on a auto loan in Florida, and I recently purchased over 7,500 in jewelry. ????????? WTF… :diablo: :slap: I'm of course working with the police and credit agencies in a desperate attempt to keep my credit I’ve worked so hard to establish. I’ve always thought I was extremely carful, AAAAHHHHHaa…. :diablo: Sorry feel much better now.. Thanks for letting me vent.. Have a great day and watch you information.. |
Send your car around when you get an address!

Thanks for the laugh Chris |
I'm sorry guy’s this a VENT and FYI warring to you all.. please watch you stuff and I should have been checking my own credit history. NOT that this is my fault, but I could have know sooner if I was more diligent..
So FYI.. |
keep the xrays safe, send them too me :D

Sorry Bro, that blows, I hope and pray it doesnt happen to me, .. Guess thats where the annoying free credit .com commercials come in. Not insinuating its your fault as we should be able to trust, but you buy alot of random stuff online. I only do online transactions with people or institutions I can trust not to rub it in. But ya know Monster Mikes addy is on the package and tower hobbies is 45 minutes away and life is good, a few beers and a some wd 40, I wouldnt mess with me
|
It was my fault, it's my credit and I never checked it!, I buy tons of stuff online from all over the world. But I'm also told that it's a simple as leaving a gas receipt at the pump as well.. At least it's Friday and I'm going to Venice beach this afternoon to see some old buddies and party hard tonight.. OOOO my head will hurt tomorrow LOL.LOL
Have a great day / weekend P.S. I'm posting the battle truck Vid this weekend it's in it's editing phase |
woah, not fun... same thing happened to me once, but in smaller scale. UPS sent me a huge bill for shipping an air conditioning unit between 2 cities in texas... these people can really get ur info from anywhere... the easiest way for someone to steal your information is through a wireless network. so make sure you keep it password protected. Currently, the best way to do that is to keep it secured with WPA-PSK password that cant be found in any dictionary, or wire up your whole house, and get rid of wireless. This is coming from a guy who knows a whole lot about computer security and how to bypass it. Its easy enough for someone like me to steal the information you lost in under 2 minutes if you dont keep your stuff secure. Don't save your credit card information on a website. Enter it every time. also, that little check box that says save my password? never click that. it just makes it even easier for a hacker to get ahold of your information. you can never be safe online, even with all the security stuff in the world. dont believe me? watch this... http://www.offensive-security.com/mo...bt3teaser.html
As George Carlin would say: It wouldn't hurt to think like a serial killer from time to time EDIT: not to confuse anyone, I did not steal TDC57's identity, nor do I do it for a living or fun. You don't have to fear me, because I won't do that kind of stuff to people. You just have to worry about the unethical people that will try to steal your identity |
Lucky for me i have only ever had my paypal account hacked and i caught it instantly so no damage was done. I wish you luck in getting things straightened out. Love and hate the internet.

That sucks Shaun, it happened to me when I purchased a domain name. a 3rd party service informed me that I bought that service in conjunction to the domain name. Good thing I saw it immediately. My bank did provide me with a new credit card with a new number...ohh and they refund me right away...
Hope things will work out well...enjoy the beach... |
Man, that sucks!
I can see at least three ways this happened: - Careless web security Click jacking, cross-site scripting, SQL injection, etc are all ways hackers can get people's data by hacking a bank or online forms. Gotta make sure the company you deal with is up to date on their security. - Identity theft via carelessness You could have left something somewhere that contained enough personal info for someone to steal Or, a company you dealt with in the past somehow had their database compromised, inadvendently exposed sensitive data to the general public, lost account info in a computer, etc. - True hacking Generally, hackers are lazy; they will do the least of amount of work to reach their goals. If you had an unsecure network or something, you are more likely to be targeted. NEVER do ANY kind of account activity over a wireless connection. PERIOD. MAC addresses can be spoofed. WEP (even 128 bit encryption) can take as little as ~40 minutes to crack. WPA (and WPA2) can be cracked as well, just takes a little longer. Even VPNs are not foolproof. Wired connections aren't perfect either, but at least it limits hack attempts to those physically connected to a network rather than just scanning RF waves from a van across the street. I don't claim to know how to do this, but I do know it's very possible. No matter what, it's a scary thought. I wish you well on this... |
i personally do know how to do this kind of stuff. See hackers that are so called elite work for the company they hacked. People like me that just know how to do it go to jail. I DO NOT do this because of that. It is wrong and just plain stupid. treat others how you want to be treated. All i do know is that is does not take hardly any effort to get this information to steal your identity. It doesn't matter how secure you think you are it can happen and not that it is your fault it just happens. AGAIN I DO NOT DO THIS KIND OF ACTIVITY. I only know how because i recently took a course at my college called ethical hacking. Yeah nice to hear that isn't it.
