I think you may be thinking about the RC18 drag link that used to be made by Driven Productions. I had to dig up a billing invoice from early 2006 to find this but their site drivenpro.net doesn't seem to be around anymore.
You may be able to find something on e-bay. Here's a few items I found that I used to run on my RC18: http://cgi.ebay.com/RC18T-18B-18MT-18R-Driven-Productions-GEAR-COVER-NIB_W0QQitemZ220289288885QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item2 20289288885&_trkparms=72%3A1421|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3 A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 http://cgi.ebay.com/RC18T-18B-18MT-Driven-Productions-DRAG-LINK-L-K-WH_W0QQitemZ220289340097QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item22 0289340097&_trkparms=72%3A1421|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A 12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 Hope that's what you are looking for - do a search for drven productions on e-bay and you;ll find a few different products. |
Thanks for the tip....It wasn't driven products, I saw it a week or so ago and can't remember the co. name. I will look up those products on e-bay...thanks

I actually found the one I was looking for...http://www.toadztoyz.com/servlet/the...-Driven/Detail

Delrin is some good strong material. That should work quite well.
|
I hope so...I am tired of the slop in the steering
|
It works good, I had one.
http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...riven+steering What really cleaned up the slop for me was lundsford rods and 10th scale servo to use without the saver. Their servo saver design on the rc18's blow. I tried EVERYTHNG. This thing; http://www.thetoyz.com/cart/thetoyz_...cat_name=RC18T the aluminum steering brace got slop after awhile. The only thing that held up was an oversized servo w/o the saver. |
the aluminum steering crap kills servos also..
how the heck did you get a 1/10 scale servo in there? i barely seem to fit a hs65 in there. |

o damn you werent kidding.
well i just bought my third hs65 and if this one strips on me then i am going to go for a bigger servo. |
I don't want to hijack the discussion on this thread of the RC18 steering but it's all been done and said so many times before. I think RC-Universe has some better discussions than here on 1/18 because there are parts of the forum just dedicated to the mini's and things BL here tend to be a bit larger scale.
IMO - the RC18 is a great little buggy/truck and I had one for easily 1 - 2years, but ultimately the steering issues, the developing slop issues and the leaking shock issues just got the better of me and I got the XRay M18T - maybe a little more expensive in the beginning but I have not had to replace a single part in 2 years, there is no steering slop, the shocks are awesome and the steering design is really impressive. |
I don't think X-Ray makes anything that is bad. I have never heard of a single X-Ray complaint myself. This steering slop thing is what has kept me from buying an 18B. I have always liked them but do not want to deal with it. Even the guys I know who have worked to correct it still have issues.

i was looking to get an m18t a couple months ago but got a great deal on an 18t. the issues that you mentioned can be fixed vintage... except for steering slop. i think that is pretty much impossible to get rid of on these applications.
im trying all i can to prevent it or make it as nice as possible but still... its pretty bad. hopefully someone will come up with something to fix it. |

One thing I would say is don't waste any money on the FT stuff as it is soft and will develop more slop over time. Good luck. |
