8ight-t brushless conversion.. v3 kind of...

Just thought I'd throw up some pics due to being completely bored...

Anyway.. I'm getting my 8ight-e Truggy together for racing next year and figured I'd toss up my current setup just to see others thoughts and ideas.

I plan on down the road when the MMM's finally start working right and not burning up after 20-60minutes of use... sticking it in to run this bad boy but for now I had a 100amp Turnigy esc I picked up a few weeks ago that seemed nice but has no proportional brakes.. Since I will be using mechanical brakes.. Well I have no issues since the esc/motor brakes are disabled :)

This ESC is a very large flat design and won't fit on the ESC stand that tekno provides which is a pretty weak design to start with anyway (not very protective) so I had to make a custom plate that I mounted on the top of the tekno motor casing which works very well, and keeps it a little more safe. I mounted my medusa BEC on the underside of the same plate to keep things clean and neat.. Now the fun part, I took my old emaxx waterproof electronics box and that was in a bin and decided it was a much much better option to house my spektrum Rx... Pics below!

I will have her up and driving sometime this week and will update on this Turnigy ECS's performance, I just can't complete my build until the remaining parts get her on Tuesday.

Other items..
Neu 1515 1.5d (13t clutchbell)
Hitec HS-985MG steering servo
Spektrum Z590 servo on brake duty

:smile:Looks to be coming along o.k., I recently finished building my 8 E-T with a Tekno conversion, Neu 1515-1Y & MGM controller. I'm sure you'll have some fun when it's finished, I'm sure it was perception issue that when I ran mine back to back against my nitro 8T the E-T appeared to be slower. I think it simply seemed that way due to the lack of noise as it drove the corners better and was easily as quick down the straights.
I mounted my esc on a plate having put longer bolts through the rear chassis brace so it's mounted centrally in the rear to try and avoid heat from the motor adding heat to the esc and vice versa.
Post some more pics when it's finished and let us know how it goes.

I hope to have the parts today... then I'll upload a few more pic's, but I agree with you from the heat on the motor. I purposely made my mount extend over the center area of the truck to avoid most of the heat generated from the motor... some heat will travel through the aluminum mounting plate, but between the 3m tape and the graphite mount on the botttom of the ESC very little should transfer through. I race though and couldn't afford to go with something less sturdy and chance a break in the middle of a heat or main. I actually had an old 3mm chassis laying around from something and just cut a chunk out and it screwed right in nice. I used two opposite screw holes and after testing found that was enough to hold it without issues.

looks great! crazy you are just finished building your losi 8t tonight. i just started mine and was just getting ready to post some pics of the build process. i like your setup though. what ESC is that? how did you mount it center rear like that? anyway, mine should be done by thursday and i cant wait. gonna take it to the track and embarass the nitro boys. i will post some pics throughout the build.

stum 10.15.2008 08:11 AM

Well we will see how long this ESC holds up, not the best for 'bursts' but others have had success so maybe I will get lucky. I'm just using this until one of my two MMM's get back from castle :) I cut up a bit of old chassis from another to make a rectangular mount for the ESC (on top) and BEC (on bottom). There are two screw holes, one is covered up by the ESC, a little thread locker and that plate isn't coming off until I want it to. Works great for this ESC, but if/when I swap to one of my MMM's I'll have to redo it a bit.

Here is a link to the ESC http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=3728

Using the Medusa 30amp BEC on the underside of the plate.

I'll be racing on Saturday from the looks of it :) I'll update.
