Slayer to E-Revo conversion
Well I have a Slayer and the short/narrow wheelbase and nitro power just didn't do it for me. So I had an eye on a brushless REVO PE and decided I could convert the Slayer into a brushless Revo PE. I started with a stock Slayer, which I then converted to brushless, which was then converted to a Revo PE. Bascially I changed out the suspension arms, driveshafts, chassis and body.

Slayer to E-Revo conversion - Part 2
I wanted to enhance the handling and durability so I added an aluminum rear skid, which actually holds the rear hinge pins, and when the stock plastic one breaks you lose your hinge pins. I added the Tekno battery tray which is solid and well made. The problem is the Revo chassis wasn't designed to have a big battery riding on the side of the chassis and the supports the tray uses can bend over time, so I created a brace that really adds a lot strength to the tray.

I noticed some flex in the motor area so I added the MC2 brace. To be continued ...... |
Slayer to E-Revo conversion - Part 3
Ok, on the fine tuning, I wanted more steering throw. The 300oz servo has plenty of torque and speed but the stock Revo needs to be modded for more throw. The Slayer steering parts are actually the same as the PE and have areas cut out for more throw. So I moved to the pivot balls/carriers. I ground them down about .5mm to get more clearence = more throw. I moved all the spacers on the front hinge pins to the front to get max caster angle. I added Ofna 17mm hubs and Mugen wheels/Proline CF tires. I added a close ratio gear set, Traxxas CD and a custom 2nd gear locker (1st gear and internal clutch have been removed). GTR shocks with the variable dampening pistons. I finished it off with a Proline Harddrive body and Traxxas Carbon wing. I am not really a paint guy so please excuse the simple paint job.

Nice.
FYI: I'm sure you could offload the Slayer-specific parts to someone here that wants to do the opposite conversion if you wanted. |
Nice truck you got there. Very clean transformation indeed. YGPM.
