Anyone think traxxas is killing the market?
 

They always seem to come out with what everyone wants(not saying its a bad thing) but they seem to be sucking the market up with there new product. even though most of there products are the previous models with some new wheels and some graphix..

now with the brushless e-revo, slayer, slash, (slash vxl?) and there minis which might be brushless.. They are just eating up everyones share of the cake... but then again you have to applaud them for being able to sell soo much of the same product:oops:

Hey BB, They are good, but they don't have a monopoly on the hobby. They don't make a competitive 1/10 truck, buggy or 4wd buggy for the track. They don't have a 1/8 buggy or truggy. For years, the only Traxxas you'd see at the track is a Revo. Just lately, there's the Slash. They are clever though!

they are making it easier for people to get what they want in the hobby, their cars are "fun" veichles not full blown racers, most people dont care if its rebadged or revised, if it looks good and works good and they can get parts for it, %80 of people could care less about anything else..... beside you know a 1/16 scale revo would be a blast!

i think it be awesome for them to bring a couple minis to the table.

id be disappointed it they just relased a slash vxl and E slayer tomorrow........

I think part of their strategy, in these times, is to get as much out there in hopes of keeping some momentum in their sales. With the Economy tanking, Consumer confidence tanking, and credit drying up... Hobby spending is going to dry up fast as well.. for obvious reasons. It's a toy. I think Traxxas is merely trying to get their stuff to market now in fear of releaseing some later.... Just my $.02

In a sense, Traxxas is killing RC somewhat. At the LHS I work it, the Traxxas parts section is ever-expanding. When new parts come in, they get sent to a box down below because they have no place on the parts panels.
Every 6 months or so we re-do the parts panels for any given brand. With Traxxas, it is difficult to find enough space for everything since they don't discontinue many parts (the store often stops carrying them long before Traxxas stops making them).

This also makes any particular Traxxas part more difficult to find and/or keep in stock. I suppose this isn't so much of an issue for online hobby shops, but for the brick-and-mortar type it is.

Another thought concerning Traxxas and hobby shops - if Traxxas redesigned a whole new truck, they'd have a whole new line of parts. There's no way a hobby shop is wanting or even willing to carry a whole new line of parts when a company releases so many vehicles within such a short period of time. So from this perspective, it's actually better that Traxxas is just changing around platforms to come up with something new.

Well there out to many other cars out there as durable as Traxxas and value for money is excellent. Main worry with Traxxas is their forum

Of all their new releases the only one I really like is the brusless E-REVO, they're just making it easier on us, I would have rather bough that than my E-REVO just to pull out the titans, evx2, and AM radio! I also think the locking diff on the summit is cool but don't really care for the rest of it. I expect that if they're releasing 2 more tomorrow and one is supose to be a 1/16 revo/slayer that the other would almost have to be a brushless edition E-MAXX unless the 2 are 1/16 e-slayer and 1/16 e-revo

A 1/16 E-REVO would be alright. Couldnt' care about the 1/16 Slash/E-Slayer

With Traxxas releasing all these new trucks ready to run Lipos I guess it's the right time for me to be getting rid of my Hyperion eos0606i ac/dc charger. If anyone's interested it will be on ebay soon unless you pm me first

I don't think you can blame TRX for killing anything. If anything blame the other makers for not being as competitive or well organized. We've been doing BL for a while now, made it work, but only TRX (and Losi kinda) is waking up to this.

Otherwise I think its good for customers to be able to find TRX parts for nearly any vehicle easily. Nice to know your fav truck is going to be around a while. I really like my Hyper ST, but parts support is iffy in LHSs, and Ofna I guess is fairly renowned for dropping lines. Its completely confusing between the OFNA and Hobao lines.

There are a few good other makers, they just seem to be run not as well, which is a shame as they tend to be higher quality than TRX, and not necc more $$$.

I will ditto this post. I like knowing my trucks will have steady parts supply for a while. One of the reasons I have ditched other vehicles is lack of support.

One of the rules for capitalism is filling niche markets, Traxxas seems to not be afraid of trying something new and be first to profit. Look at the Slash, Revamped stampede for a growing demand for scale rc's, usually dominated by Tamiya, Traxxas got there first

Tamiya had a CORR truck out before Traxxas

True, as did tenth tech and Losi. The tenth tech and tamiya were based loosely on a touring car platform, the Losi was 1/10 buggy based. All were ahead of their time and needed a special track (smaller, more scale-like jumps) the slash is the first one that can work with the current tracks. I never meant to say that Traxxas did it first, but they have mastered the idea of using current models to fill niche's and making them work good.
