Question about Neu quality

2 Attachment(s)
I've got a Tekno Neu motor and found there are a dent and small scratches on the edge of front motor end. Tekno said they won't have any influence on the performance and they promise me an exchange if I want to . If you were me, what would you do? keep the motor and ignore the defects or wait for an exchange? Is this quality problem common for Neu motors?

Run it. Its not jewlery. Its a motor.

Looks like the case got banged a little after machining. It will have no effect on performance and will get scratched at some point being used anyway.

It will be fine. A dent that small means it wasn't hit hard enough to do any real damage.

Agreed.. nothing to worry about there, anyhoo that will be the smallest scatch after a month of hard work :)

Up to you really, you will have to wait longer as you have to send your motor there and wait to get a new one, so longer down time

Thanks for all replies. It took me about 10 days to get my neu motor. I am a little disappointed with the new motor. Compared with my former Tekno Neu motor, this one has rusty shaft, defective front cover and residual glue on the back end cover. I concern if I will have a better one, if I have an exchange. However, performance is what I concern the most.

I've had 5 different Neu motors now.. none had any blemishes such as you have described. If you want a new Neu I wouldn't be worried about quality; where did you buy it from? Neu pretty much builds by demand, they don't deal with predictions and futures for the most part, you order they build. Knowing that, how long was yours laying on a resellers shelf to start rusting? If it came direct from Neu I'd be very surprised.

It's a Tekno Neu so I'm guessing he ordered from Impact. The rust on the shaft should come off easily with a dremel tool, the glue on the back sucks but use an exacto and scrape it off. Some blemishes on the outside shouldn't be to big of a deal, run it and see how it performs.

I have two Tekno Neu's. Both had little marks and such on them but as previously posted, we are not buying them because they are pretty, we buy them because they ROCK! Both worked just fine. If there are any functional problems, I'm sure Tekno will take care of you but I bet it's just fine. Run it.

One thing occurs to me. Doesn't the bump affect the contact between the motor and the mount? Hence, the mesh won't match perfectly and will accelerate gear wear?

had my neu over a yr now and there dents all over it and it still preforms like day one =]

If there is a noticeable gap against the mount when you attach it, just use a small file to level it out.
