I went bashing with the EMAXX 3905... It is fun for 45 seconds... Till I hit a wooden post. OOPS. I broke a bulkhead mount in the front where the RPM Upper A-Arms are attached. Who has suggestions to replace with what ?? FLM bulks or .......

Tx for any advice.

PS: I also smoked my ERevo EVX2 today real bad.(just pressed the button and up it all went in smoke!!!) :surprised: Not worth a repair or guarantee... That I will put in the erevo forum.. I need some advice there too. Oh well, all in a days "fun".

GARC bulks are unbeatable, they are wonderfully crafted but you can't bead the warranty on FLM stuff.

Maybe a new chassis??? Like the G4? Will that replace bulks as well?

The G-maxx stuff does not come with bulks, you have to supply your own.
IMHO, you cant beat the stock bulks - you wont shed any tears when you do have to replace them. Trust me, if you hit that post with aluminum stuff, you will still be replacing something, and it may end up being much more $$.

If you are dead set on aluminum, FLM seems to be the leader.

Thanks for the info.. after reading some posts on other forums I'm tending to go for the FLM hybrid... it supports stronger diffs for 1/8 when I get the system upgraded to 6s 2200kv.... Any opinions? I would really not like to keep repairing things, but also my budget is +-$80-$100 for this problem. What is the best way to get it solved... Who votes for plastic bulks??? Will it break again?

I hate plastic, and they will break again.

$100 wont buy you much in the way of upgrades- the hybrid bulks and 1/8 scale gears to go inside them are more like about $300 or so. Best you could do is get the FLM bulks (or NewEra or Garc), then wait and see what Linc comes up with in the way of modified LST diffs as a cheap alternative to hybirds or UE diffs.

I use FLM hybrid bulks with 1/8 buugy diffs. For me this has been rock solid.

I have used 7075 GARC bulks for a couple years now. They have been great, no worries. I ran stock diffs with FLM cups for a long time then switched to UE 8 spyders when I started stripping gears (big jumps + power = stripped stock diffs). Now I never have to worry about that part of the car, just maintainance, and I was able to build in steps. I have read the FLM hybrids w/ 1/8th scale are rock solid also. Both setups $$$ but you will not have to worry about them again. I guess all the diff talk is becuase what bulks you buy affects what diffs you can run now or later.

I havent had an Emaxx in long time now. Are people still upgradeing to the 1/8 gears in them. I thought that Traxxas had finally built brushless worthy difs for the new Emaxx. Wouldn't that be a cheaper options? Buy aluminum bulks and then just get a set of the new difs from a new kit part out that those places on ebay do. Seems to be to be the cheapest way. Unless the new emaxx diffs arent what they are billed to be? ANy thoughts from someone who has the new Emaxx?

Yep, still suggesting 1/8 scale of modified LST2/Muggy diffs as an upgrade; traxxas did slightly improve their own diffs, but they are still made from crappy plastic and only 4 spider gears. I havent seen as many busted 3905 spec diffs as on the old emaxxes, so they do seem to hold up better though; the pimp is working on some kind of kit form LST diffs as a cheap version of the UE UltraLites, so might be worth seeing what he comes up with too.

1/8 diffs IS the way to go
 

I have to admit ---> I used to be a EMAXX fan, but now that I've used my stock EREVO for a while, it beats EMAXX stock by far. Of course if you throw thousands at the EMAXX it is better, but the suspension will never be close to a REVO. The fact is that I'm keeping my EMAXX stock (maybe a mmm combo :-) ) and buying a Revo hybrid v.2 case... with lightning diffs from rcm

That is a more reasonable route to go. Neil is right, 1/8 is the way to go and the linQpimp will help us with the cheapo route for the maxx. The eRevo is better in all respects(so far...but maybe not batt options) and makes it worth the "investment" -- haha i love it said like that :-)
