I have a deal on one, and i only run on 4s on my crt.5 with a Neu 1512, 1.5d (3200Kv)

Is this controller is good????

I have a MM for now, i would like to run on 4s without to have need of a UBEC, and i want to know if the Quark is better than the MM.
Is it a waste of money or a good thing to buy this unit???

Many swear by it and it supposedly runs excellent up to 5s, just has issues with 6s. Everyone I have heard from that owns one says they are butter smooth, and some say smoother than the MM/MMM. If it was me, and I only needed 4-5s capability, and the deal was awesome, I would buy it.

Just keep in mind though that all Quark warranty/repair issues has to go through Korea, that includes any communication.

Neither the quark nor the MM will run 4s without a bec.

The quark is a good esc. It has the same fets as a MM. I think the programming is better in the quark, as it will run any motor, and runs them all well. However the MM has a better heatsink. I run the quark 125b on 6s in a buggy and have had success. I also run one in an emaxx with a plett maxx and 4s lipo. And in a slayer with a hacker c50 13L on 5s.

How cheap is your good deal?

If you get it I would think about doing the heat pad internal mod. After that + RCM heatsink, caps, and maybe fans it has been very reliable and smooth on 4s on my Maxx. Programming is ok and I haven't had to worry about it since. If you feel comfortable doing some mods and the price is low enough...

$120.00 but the external casing have been remove and replace by a transparent shrink wrap.

And realy, is i need to do all the internal modifs and use the RCM heat sink if i only run 4s in a crt.5????:oh:

oui david you need a ubec for 4cell lipo sur le quark.....et en 4 cell you dont need of a big heat sink:yes:....jlai runner en 6 cell no issue sor far(20 minutes de temps)

If it does not have a case you will want to stick some sort of heatsink to the fets. You can get them cheap off ebay.

I really liked both of my Quarks (one sold with my Revo). Always VERY smooth no matter how slow you go. Even with the newer MM/MMM firmware, I still think Quark is smoother. Quarks simply operate differently in their start up routines than the MM/MMM. If you can get by the heat and warranty issues, and run 5s or lower, it is a good ESC. Personally, the thermal mod is needed though - the pad they use just isn't good enough for proper heat transfer. Adding a couple caps helps even more.

I have been having success with my quark on 6s, but I have a spare MMM that I will use from now on. Quark has lost (or the korean postal system) 3 of my escs, so I may do the mods and just run them till they crap out. I want to do a custom case with a real heat sink epoxied to the fets. My only issue is that the program buttom is on the wrong side... I will figure something out...

I have three quarks, two 125 and one 80 amp, all work great. If the Lipo's are fresh charged, you might get a slight cog, till some voltage drains off, usually about 5 minutes worth. I did run 6s without troubles once, due to a rain out of a bash and the batteries sat for about 4 or 5 days before use. Twisted off a 4 yr. old driveshaft that day, Scary power on that level. All my quarks are bone stock and no mods, I have one 125 on a Neu 1515/2.5d, the other on a 2250/10t, Both run reliabily without troubles. The 80 amp gets a regular dose of 5s with a Lehner 1200 XL basic, Its geared for 35 and barely gets above whatever outside temp is. Overall I am very satisfied with mine, and yes for anything over 3s you need a BEC. I prefer koolflight, A bit bulky compared to others, but very reliable

I had quark SSB Mk03, fried quick on 4s, no warranty, producer claims he didn't receive package... I do not recommend it. Service is very important in power applications.

How did that happen? On paper the SSB MK-03 is supposedly equal to or better than the 125b.
