Crt X1 Batt. Tray Placement
 

Like the title says...i'm about to mount the RCM battery tray on my CRT chassis....it will pretty much take up one side of the chassis,my question is ....should i mount it as far back as possible ,or as far forward as possible ,or in the center ?? i will be running a single 5s,with the Neu 1515 2.5d motor on the opposite side and was just curious what would be the optimal tray position for weight bias and if it really matters ??....thanks for any advice and help

I am not an expert but i do know the new x2 is designed to have more weight up front for turning...this is according to Ofna.....So I would lean towards moving forward a bit...

I think centered is a better choice, so you can keep your overall CG as close to the middle as possible, and better balance out your right and left sides.

yeah ,that was my initial thinking, beings that the motor weight is in the right rear and the servo and rx is in the right front....the MMM will be in the center rear off the center diff mount...i was thinking the battery weight would be best in the left rear or middle...
so would the best set up be equal balance from the center ??....LOL..or am i overthinking this whole weight balance issue ??

...edit...wow,i just went and set all my components as they would be mounted on the chassis....and picked it up by a wire hooked to the center diff...no matter what, the battery side is gonna be MUCH heavier....didn't realize it would be that much heavier on the battery side(using a 5s 5000 or 4800 mah @ about 600g)

I went as far forward as possible in my X2 and it's balanced great , steers and flies realy good . Don't forget with Mikes trays you can move them if your not happy with balance , just a few more holes in the chassis :wink:

I run my battery centered on my X1cr & it jumps very well .

yes i was just looking at your build thread and noticed it was up toward the front...on a sidenote your x2 build thread has got me thinking of buying the x2 parts needed to update my x1 as it is a very clean build and i'm thinking i might as well update to x2...i havent even finished converting my x1 and i already want to update to x2...LOL

with the x1 i would do all the way forward you can to get mor weight on the front of it to make it turn better. i could never get my x1 to steer
