Lipo - 25c 5100 or 30 c 5000 ???
 

I am having hard time with this simple decision:
I am going to invest some good money in some good pair of Lipo's. I am a basher. I have a stock e-revo and will surly go for a brushless upgrade (c-c 2200kv combo, I believe) sometime soon.

The question:
should I buy these (119$):
Poly RC Professional "XQ" 30C 7.4V - 5000mAh

or these (115$) ?
Poly RC Professional "XP" 25C 7.4V - 5100mAh

Just have heard a rumor that the XQ cannot hold the voltage so good as the XP. Someone knows anything about it ? someone have any experience with one of those ?
please. help needed...

both will be more than enough. go for the cheaper one imo.

Get the Elite 5000mah 35c.. they are the best lipo's I've owned... The polyquest are nice but these packs are SICK! These are better the Neu packs, the Enerland, the SMC's and obviously way better than maxamps... They are not hard shelled.. but way better.. if you must have hard shell packs those are good.. the SMC 28c are just as good as well. SPEND THE MONEY on the 30c+ rated packs.. you will get it back in run time.. they hold voltage better under load.

Thats the thing- some brands have 25 and 30c rated packs of the same or very similar capacity, yet the 25c lipos hold better voltage under load than the 30c packs; I believe the PQ packs are the ones in question.

I'd go for the 25c PQ packs, or anything close from a similar brand using Enerland cells (rclipos.com).

Certainly. Since we know the specs are accurate on those cells, they should be fine for putting out around 120amps+, which is more than adequate. Gear for about 40-45mph when you have the MMM system, and they will be fine- just set the LVC for about 3.2-3.3v per cell to give yourself a little headroom and protect your investment. I know thingy* on the traxxas forum had some of the hardcased Enerlands (25c 5000mah, but you dont need the hardcase in the Erevo), and he loves them compared to his MA stuff, so I cant say fairer than that really.

Unless the rating is wrong on a particular pack or over rated like a few companies do the higher "C" rating pack will always last longer before hitting a LVC, even if the same mAH. Actually if your system draws a lot of amps it is possible for a 35c 4000mAH pack to have a longer run time than a 25c 5000mAH pack, but that is if the pack is being stressed, if you don't push it hard then you will typically get better results from the 5000 pack. Again those new Elite packs are soo sick it's not funny I mean it's just crazy how much better they are than the other packs.. trust me everyone who was at the track the other day had their jaw hit the floor, it was that impressive. Very reasonable pricing on those elite 5k packs as well.

I have these both types of packs and they both run fine with the MMM and the CC 1515 and the CC 1512 1Y...

Can you tell me why 30C pack don't hold theyr voltage better than 25C pack??:neutral:
It's not the first time that i ear that.....

Serum mentioned this a while back. Someone had graphs to back this up. I also heard that the CC guys found that the 30c cells did not perform until they were over 120f. My 4500 packs get up to 130f when running my lst, but they do not puff and seem to hold voltage well until they get close to the lvc. I need to gear it down a bit and see if that does anything...

I only have those 30c packs, all of my other ones are 25c.

I've been running both in my Truggy for the last few weeks. Honestly I can't tell the difference behind the wheel. I think they are both fantastic.

No problem, that truggy is getting retired in two races (I've had it for 3 seasons now), next year something all new (and even better!)...

Unfortunately I've not been running them long enough to know. I have started to keep a charge journal to see if for example, the 5100's take more charge than the 5000's. Currently I use the 5000's when I get to the track for practice, then I use the 5100's for Qual 1 and 2 (both are 5 min races) I don't charge in the middle, I get race speed out of them for the full 10 mins combined plus a lap or two of warm up. I'm sure I could get more, while the Qual rounds are being run I charge the 5000's and use them for the main. Works like a champ, one charge cycle at the track and I'm good to go. We have two weeks left on our season, next year we are moving to 6 mins quals and 10 min mains. I think either is capable of a good 13 mins at full race pace and maybe 15 mins if you baby it a bit.
