Lipo Battery Temps
I just got my MMM v3 back yesterday and was out testing it out today. I notice on avg motor temp is 130, battery is 120 and ESC is 120. I was pushing it all out for about 15-18 minutes and the LVC kicked in. So I temped right at the end of the run and my motor is 145, battery and ESC is over 130. My question is this, if the lipo is running at about 120's throughout then all of a sudden it shoots up to over 130 before LVC kicks in, is this normal? I am using an NEU Energy 4s 5000mah lipo. The battery was at 13v when I plugged it back in the charger. No puffing of the battery was noticed. I am using MMM v3 with NEU 1515 1.5d motor. Motor timing and intial accelration set to lowest on ESC.

Thats normal. All my lipos do the same. From the elites, protek, truerc, poly-rc, flightpower, and enerland ones. They always heat up alittle more right at the end of the run.
That motor will pull alot of amps so I would say that your batteries are holding up fine. With a 7xl my elite 4800s and the protek 4000s would get to 140+ by the end of the run. They stayed around 130ish duing the rest of the run. Were as the poly-rc and enerland stay about 1oo to 105 but then get up to about 120 at the end. |
whats the limit? i thought 110 was the limit for me (and mine are around 100-105 at the end using the config in my sig)

They say to stay under 140*f but 150 degrees is the max for a lipo. motor max is 200 degrees and the esc is about 170.

thanks for that. i was informed here by patrick that the MMM has a temp cutoff at 120C and the motors shouldnt go over 240F too often. this seemed like really really good neus haha
