Battery Tray

What size battery tray are you guys using for the new generation of buggies? I was going to order the Mugen motor mount and battery tray from Mike for my MBX6, but the tray says sold out. Where can I get one now?

Just a word of caution/warning before you buy the R/C Monster battery tray.

I've got one in my MBX-6 and I had to jack the body posts up at least 1/2 an inch just to get the body to come close to sitting level.

Even with just a 5000mah pack it is way too high. 6000mah or higher? Forget it.

Unless you don't mind it looking like it's all crooked.

With the spacer and the thickness of the tray itself it just pushes the battery too high in my opinion.

I wish I had a tray that would get the battery closer to the chassis.

The newer tray design from RCM is a single piece and doesnt use the spacer any more. It lowers the battery a bit, but I dont think its a half inch. The bottom of the battery is around .2 off the chasis now. thats about as low as you can get it as slong as you are still dealing with the side mud guard. The sinlge piece is a bit lighter too.

Sounds like the MBX6 might have a bit of a low body on the sides. I had to bump the body up a bit to fit my packs without hiting the body on my 808, but only 1/8" or so.

Pumpkin, I use a 6.5" x 2" custom size battery tray from RC-Monster and I can fit most reasonable sized packs into it. It has a little space around the pack on the side on some of the smaller packs, but they dont seem to move as long as you tighten the straps down well. I have used it all race season like that and am yet to have an issue, its also nice to have it big enought to fit just about any pack. Makes it easier when shopping for battereis. You can grab whats on sale and still have it fit.

i am useing the novak tray, fits well under the body

I have been using the Neu 4s 5000mAh packs (the long ones). I know in my Kyosho 777 WC with RCPD's mudguard/battery tray, the body just sat up a few mm's. If we are talking a half inch, I will have to look into maybe making my own or switching to saddle pack

Can I buy the Novak trays with out buying the full kit? I looked around on Tower Hobbies and Novak's website for part numbers, came up empty.

try ebay? they said a while back that they would be selling them. they dont look very strong though. very flexiable....

on another note, how are you guys raising your bodies? just adding washers under neather the plastic mount thingies (thats the only 1/2 decent way i cna think of!) or something else? pic would be useful.
thanks guys :)
