broken screw
I broke a screw and now its stuck in my flm hybrid bulk. Its one of the ones that goes through the chassis to the bulkhead. anyone got any ideas on getting it out?
Now, that can be a pitta... How deep is it in?
Perhaps you could use FLM's warrantee on this one? |
well i would say a good 5-7mm is stuck in the bulkhead, and it starts about 2mm from the top so i cant grab it with some pliers. I didnt use thread lock on it so if i could stick something on it it shouldnt take to much to get out. And what makes it worse is i've only ran my truck about 5 times with these on. i hope the warrentee covers it that would be great.
are they 2 mm out or in?
If they are out, you can use a thin dremel tool to make a cut and you can screw it out with a flat head screwdriver. |
Sorry I ment they are 2mm in.
ouch, hate it when stuff like that happens.
You might still be able to do the Dremel trick, but it'd make a nasty mark on the surface.
probbably would void teh warrenty too...

I might just run it like it is with 3 screws. it shouldnt make that much difference would it?
If you dont think you can get the screw out, without messing up the bulk. You can take it to your local machine shop for a few bucks they can get it out without messing up the threads on the bulks.
Any idea how they do that Hippie?
Do they make a little bitty easy out for such a problem? What if you flip the bulk head over and put a small drill on it and drill from the under side. If it is not in tight the drill will unscrew it. Just a suggestion to try.

You need a small EZ out or extractor bit to get the screw out. No loctite makes it a much easier task, too!
It won't be terribly easy, though, because it is so small in diameter. My guess is the "no loctite" caused the screw to break in the first place, actually! If the screw backed out while you were running, I could see it breaking pretty easy from an impact. |
