Simple Jammin' X1-CRT truggy conversion
This has to be one of my least-involved conversions yet .
For starters I bought Mike's motor mount and servo plate for this truck, but the motor mount is for the X1-CR buggy so I can use a 46t spur. The whole center diff is actually from a Hyper 7 . Motor is a Medusa V2 36-60-1600, ESC was a Mamba Max with 4 extra 35v 330uf low-ESR caps and CCBEC. After the MM smoked on 5s I got a MMM V2, which died a slow BEC death (I actually watched the BEC voltage dip down using the telemetry on my React). So for now this truck is ESC-less, but I just sent in both ESCs to CC today for replacement. The battery tray on here is the type I usually make, 1/8" thick polycarbonate. What's different here, though, is that I wanted to use the Z-brace to brace the center diff area, so I drilled and tapped two holes that secure the front of the battery tray. The back of the battery tray is secured with a 1/4" thick polycarbonate spacer the mounts to the chassis where the engine mounts normally go. Battery is an Impulse 5s 4800mah 20C, and the servo is an Airtronics 359. The gearing is 14/46, for about 45mph. It drives well, but the shocks need some thicker oil. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7764.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7765.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7766.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7771.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7773.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7776.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7779.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...T/IMG_7786.jpg |
I am about to convert my CRT1 as well. I will probably buy Mikes motormount and batterytray, and run it on 4s lipo and a 8XL. Can you tell me what pinion size I should go for?

Looks good Metal Man, now go get it dirty!

wow, how heavy is the truggy? are you geared crazy? I ran an MM in my revo for a long while during the v1-v2 wait and with a fan never broke 125.
|
I edited my post. It might make more sense now.
The truggy comes in at 10lbs fully loaded, with 5s 4800mah 20C Lipo and Badlands. The MM never had a chance to break a sweat, it just went poof. Gearing is 14/46, about 45mph top speed. |
gotcha

I will be running the stock spurgear, so I will go with the 18 t pinion. Thanks for the answer.

Looks good Travis.

Got a replacement Monster in today from CC (should have received 2 MMM V3s and a MM, only received one MMM), and hooked it all up. This truggy is fun! Gearing is still 14/46 with buggy diffs, and Medusa 36-60-1600, on 5s 4800mah 20C Lipo. I set the punch control to 30%, 16.5v cutoff, medium start power, medium timing, and 50% brake. Driving on the street with Badlands ( ) yielded excellent results. Even with 30k oil in the center rolling wheelies at 25mph were not an issue. After 5-7mins the motor was only 135deg., MMM WITHOUT fan was only 125 deg., and the battery was maybe 80. Ambient was 65-70. I am definitely looking forward to driving this truck more, it's very nimble for its weight! |
Nice Travis.. :intello:
Now you'll have yet another one to bring and break for our next So-Cal bash..:lol: 10 lbs fully loaded ha?? :oh: I'll bring my scale :lol:  |
10lbs! And that's with lighter-weight electronics... This is one heavy truck.
