Why must LiPo's be stored half-charged and not fully-charged? Do they loose their punch or battery life?

I always store mine fully charged. I ahve not had any issues. I guess that since lipos do not like to be overcharged then storing them at leass than a full charge would be good if excess heat causes them to go over capacity? Not sure if that is even possible... All I can think of.

I got told it is fine to have them fully charged aslong as it isn't for more than 1 month or something

Oh, then that's a good reason, though that is shown for a Lithium Ion battery. I guess I'll keep it at half charge to three-quarter charge from now on.

They are also not supposed to be discharged and stored.

I wonder if 3.5 is worse than 4.2 though for long term storage. Mine usually get used down to 3.7-3.8 and left that way.

WOW, I have always kept mine with a full charge, just so when I am ready to go out and play, I dont have to wait. Crap I guess I will start keeping then with a little less voltage in them for now on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am with you and Linc. I usually charge them up just in case I get some free time to go bash. I might have to change that....

I wish that it was possible to store them fully charged, even as I have only used my new LiPo once, I have already found it kind of annoying to have to keep it half charged when charging it all of the way could save me 45 minutes to an hour the next time I want to run. (Or having to stop a run early because issues, such as the one expressed in my "Suspension Problems" thread)

I have a store mode on my charger(a cellpro 10s) I guess unless I know I am going to run in the very near future I will start charging my packs on the store mode. Man this stinks but I dont want to mess up my enerland 6000mah 25c lipos (they cost to much)

How long have you use the packs?

At least you'll only have to top them off, which should take about 1/2 hour. Better than a full ~1hr charge cycle, and worth it for pack longevity...

I store all of mine charged. Havent had a problem that Im aware of. I have a truerc 8000mah pack thats almost 3 years old and still going with no issues. and latelty they have not gotten much use. just charged and stored for weeks between uses.

Not saying anyone should follow my example. I just havent had any issues.
