shock pistons

I have been jumping my e-maxx a lot lately so I went to my LHS and got some 50wt oil. After i filled each shock my suspension seemed a lot softer!:surprised: If i drill extra holes in the piston will the oil work better.:neutral:I thought I saw it done somewhere. Thanks

Anybody?

Drilling holes will only decrease rebound resistance. You must have had heavier oil in the shocks before.
Are you certain you are comparing apples to apples? Ie., same springs, same spring shim set up?

Yea the shocks had 30wt in them before. It's the same every thing else also. Should I rebuild my shocks?

sometimes the old dirty gunked up oil will feel heavier than it was. When you replaced it with the cleaner oil, it made the shocks seem softer by making it smoother.

One other thing - one companies 30 weigh is not necessarily the same as another companies. I've seen some wide disparities between weight from one brand to another.

Ok I refilled my shocks today and now they work like a charm! I put the one hole pistons in them and new AE 50 wt oil. Heading to the dunes this weekend and i'm gonna try them out. hopefully there not to stiff!
