BL Savage Gearing

Right now I have my 7XL running on 18 cells with a 12 tooth pinion. I'm running 40 Series Moabs and an MBX transmission with a 51t spur gear. I'm a bit overgeared I think with this current setup, when I switch over to my 10XL should I change the gearing a bit? I was thinking that since the 10XL doesn't run as hot it will be less overgeared.. Any suggestions appreciated.

try it an just check the temps although, i think that your right. the 10xl on the same amount of cells can take a higher gearing.

What ratio is your savage with that mbx transmission?

I actually don't know, but the MBX transmission's ratio is 44/14.

so a 3.14 to 1 ?

I actually don't know how exactly to calculate final drive ratios, I always just gear by feel, temps, and instinct!

Just post the gears that touch eachother..

Do you mean the pinion and spur? I'm running a 12 tooth pinion and 51tooth spur.
