To Pre-order, or not to Pre-order?
 

I am going to stick my head into the brushless world and I have been doing some research. I will be getting the MMM esc. I was thinking about the combo, but I am not so sure now after hearing about the new 70 & 80mm Medusa motors. I know that they have a good reputation and everything. Should I pre-order a 70mm 2000kv Medusa motor? Do you guys think that would be a good option compared to the Neu-Castle motor?

I am wanting a reliable not to hot (temperature wise) set-up. I plan on running 4s li-po batteries in my E-Revo. Would the 2000kv motor be the right one for a 4s and possibly 6s in the future?

P.S. Does Medusa have good customer support?

Sorry for all the questions, I don't want to mess up and waste a lot of money. (College Student here)

if I was making that choice I would go with the mmm combo...the 2200kv....I think its a deal you cant beat with supurb customer service plus I would think that the combo would be ready to just plug togehter with no soldering but I'm not sure...ask mike here at RCM he sells this combo

medusa is great stuff but Neu is better IMHO

Mike, does he run RCM? I did not see the combo on the products page here on RCM, just the out of stock V2's. (Yes I know the MMM combo is not out yet)

Your question is tough to answer untill people get to do some good testing with the CC motor. The Medusa motors are great for the money, but if you plan to race I would still say save up for the Neu.

Jeff - What would you like to see in terms of testing and I will try to provide.

I ran them both at the bash and still continue to run them - I don't notice any difference to a neu but that they are harder to turn over...

Yess I know a few of you guys have had one for testing, but its my feeling that you wont really know untill you get it out there in a significant enough number. Then people will find the flaws.

Would like to see the same KV Neu motor run against the CC motor in the same truck and the same everything else to compare temps and perofmance. Neu is kinda the gold standard and what the CC motor is copied from. We know where the Medusa falls in relation to the Neu motors. Would like to know where the CC motor falls in relation to the Neus as well.

Anyone with a neu 1515 1y around here on 5s? Ill race you for Jhautz's enjoyment

So you think that I should wait to see how the Neu Castle's are doing before I make a decision? I just hate to wait forever, you know?
The 70mm cans are like the same size as the 1515 Neu's, right? If I were to go this way, would the 2000kv be best for the 4s set-up?
Forgot to add: It will be used to bash on street/dirt/grass.

I love the Neu's and have two of them, but my medusa v2 60mm 2000kv is awesome in my 8b conversion.. great temps and super fast. Light weight and just about as effecient as the Neu's for 1/2 the price. Can't go wrong iMO. I have no doubt the castle neu's will be a great motor, but if you don't want to wait I can safely say the medusa 70mm will not be a let down in any way and for 125 :)

Yeah, I think that I may Pre-order one, and if the Castle Neu is showing much better performance I can always sell the Medusa.
I believe that I might go with the 2300kv option instead since it will be faster/more rpms on 4s lipo.
