tattoo opinions
wutsup guys ive been thinking lately of getting some type of tattoo. Im not too sure where id wanna get it or what id want to get but i just want to know if anyone here has tattoos or what do you all think of them?
i realize i am only 18 and may be making a mistake but i wont put it somewhere noticeable unless i want it to be. (calf or arm----these are the 2 places im thinking) im sort of into skull tattoos. i think they look baddass.. it has no real meaning to me. http://ww1.prweb.com/prfiles/2006/12...3964/ALook.jpg http://www.tattoofinder.com/samples/XL_EL_Design.jpg im not saying i would get something like that ^ but i just think they look sweet. if i find something i like ill throw it up on here! if you have any tattoos or think something is cool feel free to put a pic here! thanks |
barbed wire, around your calf and arm. and a bad boy club tat on the other arm

It might look good when your young but as you get older, you gotta wonder if it will look like a pile of crap.
Or Some day you may get tired of looking at the same old figure on your arm or leg. But don't let me be the voice of reason. Do what you want. |
In my opinion, it's cool to not have any tattoos. That's just me, and is a result of how I was raised. Only problem is that this doesn't really answer your question...

Personally
I know from the crowed in here lately that you will get a lot of guys who will say go for it. I was in the US Navy for over 20 years and managed to avoid such frivalous nonesense. I can see the guy who has a good reason for one like putting his wife and kids names on his arm, or even his mother because of his devotion to them. I have been around the world and back and I have met a lot of people (the majority of them) who wished they never got one. These sort of things are fads and phases that we all go through in life and want to be part of the crowed just like piercings. What a waste of money.
I believe that our bodies are the most important thing that we will ever have to take care of in our lifetime. We do things to them that cause us more harm then good most of the time, and when we finally realize it the damage has been done. I thought about it many times during my Navy career, but just did not see the long term advatage to it. Spend the money on some good R/C gear that will bring you some happiness and wait until you find something that is truly worthwhile tattooing on your body that will stay there for the rest of your life. Or not..... Good luck with your choices. |
you could get the "Shrimp on the Barbie" tattoo :intello::yipi::yes::party:

I was totally kidding of course, as the tats I mentioned are the ones that people just being part of the crowd or are hopping on the bandwagon get. I have the names of both my sons in olde englishe on my forearms. I don't get to see them enough, but they know I always think of them. They are permanent, and if its something meaningful that you will like for a lifetime go for it, if it's to be cool, well, you're cool enough man. You know what MMM Bl 1515 1/y bec 6s2p 1c means. That's cool!

Just some words of wisdom from a old (but still COOL) FART!.. :intello:
Everyone I know who has one and it my age 40 or up, totally regrets it!, I wanted one several times but never went through with it (listened too my gut / inner voice) and it turned out it was right. If you inner voice says it’s OK DUDE lets get drunk and DO IT!, it wont show-up at a company function, when I'm playing tennis or golf with the boss and or his daughter in 5-8 years.. Then go for it!. Some suggestion if you do! 1. Superman “sign” (generally more accepted by everyone) 2. If you have big arms (than barbwire above the triceps) this looks cool at any age as long as your maintain your shape!.. 3. A Disney animation (Donald duck, etc) Don’t for GOD sake MAN dont ever do one of this: IMHO!.. 1. Girlfriends Mane. Yes she might mean the world too you NOW, but she’ll be gone and replaced with a hotter chick in less then 16 months.. 2. Stay way from the neck, ankles, hands (these will show up everywhere!, you WILL regret this move) at about 35 -40 years old (possibly younger) What ever you decide to do!, I of course wish you the best in your decision!.. OOOwww and I heard they cost a crap load of money!, several hundred if not in the thousands. Tattoo or a new Nue motor  Tattoo or a new 808 buggy  Etc…. |
tattoos are overrated. I do have one and while they are addicting they are pointless. Just remember as well it is a forever thing (unless you spend heaps on laser surgery). I also suggest that you get any where it can not be seen in the open with pants or a short sleeve shirt. I say that because most work places frown on any visible tattoo. I do have one on my chest that is claw marks and dripping blood and will get another but like i said it is pointless and is like a hobby i guess you could say. Oh and the 2 you showed are going to be at least 100 or more each depending on size.

i understand what all of you are saying and everyone is right in a way. tattoos are pointless if they mean nothing. Sure, they will look baddass now, but like you said when you get older it will start to look like crap.
after thinking about it i am not sure a skull is such a good idea. id be embaressed to show it to certain people (parents...) i would NEVERRRRRRRRRRRR get my g/f name anywhere. not now at least (ill wait for a wife and kids) personally this looks like it would be a really cool tattoo and mean something http://tattoo.about.com/library/grap...chaelcross.jpg put this on my left calf then when i get older-married and have kids ill put them on my right. btw. the chinese symbol in the middle means "family" i may and try to find some type of cooler cross but i like the idea of this. family & faith. oh and i realize the price on tattoos.. im not afraid of spending money on something that will last forever. sure i could spend the money on a new motor, but that only lasts for a couple months-years. |
I waited until I was 28 to get my first tattoo. My requirements where as follows:
1. Make sure to do research on your artist and find the best you can, better artists cost more money, but hey, it's permanent. 2. Use a reputable shop and make sure to see everything being cleaned and put into the autoclave. Also makes sure your needles are sealed in sterile packaging. 3. Make sure what you get has significant meaning to you and will for the rest of your life, if not you will regret it. 4. Keep the tattoo relegated to areas that can be covered for normal dress just in case of. You don't want to be denied a job later in life because you have a tattoo on your forearm, hand, head, neck, etc. 5. Get your tattoo done when you are completely sober. Do not go drunk, high, etc. 6. Don't cut corners or try to save money, remember it's permanent. 7. Follow the after care instructions to the T to insure proper healing. Not following them can result in your tattoo looking poor and serious infections. Enjoy! |
Go with a branding iron instead of ink. Chicks dig scars. I don't care for meaningless tats off the tat shop wall, that you'll see on twenty different people at any Ozzy concert. Maybe design one on your own and take it to a tat shop. A 33 year old friend of mine has one that reads "Established in 1975".

I have a tattoo on my back of myself, only a little taller than me...

IMO tats are stupid and a wast of money, but if you have to get one just remember that this could happen:http://www.ultimaterc.com/gallery/al...-failure08.jpg
