Starter box help.
Hey guys I am having problems with my starter box and I am going to be picking up a new one. One thing I needed too ask is the what lipo amp rating do you think is needed too run the two 775 motors on 4s?
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/12542 This is the box. I am getting something cheap with a low capacity (around 2000-3000 mah). Probably a zippy. Also what balancer if any is needed for a duratrax ice? I am hoping too order today. Thanks |
I hooked my Watts-Up meter to my starter box and lipo setup just to see what kind of current spikes it pulled. I have a dual 775 motor box also, not that particular one, but it should be similar as far as power goes. When trying to start a brand new engine I was breaking in, it was pulling 40-45 amp spikes according to the low resolution meter I was using. I have an old 4s 4000mah 10C lipo pack (only rated for 40A continuous)in my starter box and it has been just fine. So I would say pick a pack capable of 50 amps continuous and you should be good to go with no worries.

Thanks man. That is really helpful. Great too know what it actually know what they pull.

u can use any balancer with duratrax ice. get hyperion LBA10 and if u go for zippy get JST-XH balancing board.
i use 4S 5000mah zippy in my starter box (dual 775 ofna) and 4s 8000mah truerc as a backup |
Thanks man. This should be one heck of a box. I had a losi box with two 550s and twin 6 cell nimh packs but it could hardly turn the motor over. This one should do it no prob.

Lipo makes a huge difference. I found this when I did not have a stick pack to use with a traxxas ez-start. So I wired a 6000mah 2s lipo to it. Must have spun the engine over twice as fast. I would never go back to nimh for anything, just a pain in the ass...
