What shock and diff oil for rustler?

Ok, I need to get new diff and shock oil for my rustler. I don't think my rustler's rear shocks (alum evader shocks) and my right front shock leaked half it's oil when the cap somehow got screwed halfway out (when i replace the oil, i'm going to glue the cap and the bottom part so thay want leak. so i've got to get the oil's weight correct). and as far as the diff oil, what brand, what weight would be best?

Anyone know much about shock and diff oil's?

I run 40 wt. oil with the 3 hole pistons and it's pretty nice. For the diff I just pack it with automotive wheel bearing grease, but I want to try some Moly grease because it isn't supposed to break down as easily (wheel bearing grease usually loosens up within an hour or so). The diff isn't sealed, so oil leaks out pretty easily though there are people that run 50k+ with success.

Probably pretty good, but as stated before the diff isn't sealed and it will leak out in time.

thanks for that

does anyone know if savage 17mm hexes will fit to the rustler so 1/8th buggy wheels and tyres can be used?

Unsullied_Spy 02.27.2009 09:03 PM

No, the axles on the Rustler are smaller than the Savage ones. It is possible to get 17mm hexes to get those larger tires to fit but it will put a lot more strain on the rest of the drivetrain.
