RC8 build

here is my new project , it will have a neu 1512 2.5d and run on 4 and 5s with a Mamba Monster , mostly track duty

i will be getting the RCM chassis once available:yes:

the top plate is homemade form aluminum and painted black to blend in , also fitted the plastic piece on top to look pro:lol: , it may need to be trimmed alittle to fit a finned motor in there , but it is close for now until i get my motor:wink:

sounds like there may be enough of us electric guys to run the indoor races this winter so i had to get a buggy and ditch the e-revo:rules:

thanks for looking

the first pic is a mock up with a rx pack , my MMM wont run with out it until i send it in , the last two pics are its current stage

There ya go man!

I'm excited to race against your RC8 on Dec. 6!
And hey if you are still not 100% satistfied with your setup by dec. bring it up anyways and just race it for the day to work the kinks out. If you can't get your hands on a new MMM just run the reciever pack no biggy. We just need a turnout so we can use the track and prove ourselves with our electric conversions lol.

my next purchase is a motor , and some tires

but i will get what i can and be there, even if i have to run the novak motor , i just dont want to let you guys down by not showing up........:rules:

just hope it isnt a flame thrower............this motor is way to hot and the esc. fan runs alot

If i'm not mistaken Marco has got a 2.5D for sale? He made a thread over on RCTECH. Maybe you should check it out.

Hey big guy,
looks like a great project, I have just a few questions for you, hope you don’t mind??

• What weight oil will you be using in the front, center and rear diffs?
• Please weigh it when your done, I'm really curious to see how much it weighs (thanks)
• Do you know what gearing you’ll be running it at??
• What tires are you getting ?? DB just posted up a thread on some new tires you might want to check it out.. (just and FYI)..
• Will you be using the stock shocks or going with some aftermarket ones ??
• Please post racing pictures / video when you have it..

Thanks for sharing your latest bad boy..

entjoles 11.12.2008 11:05 PM

i am starting with 5/10/5 in the diffs

with 4s and a 1512 2.5d i am thinking about a 17-19 t pinion , the rc8 has a 44t spur and truggy diffs

for tires i have been thinking of the proline revolver wides or aka tires (either)

for now i will run the ft shocks , with some mods , rtr caps and bladders that are cut out , and about 5mm of fuel line inside on the shafts and start with 40 wt

i cut the esc. top mount plate , the part where the esc. mounts is about half the size now , i decided to try and mount that novak motor with a 12t and it was way off:rofl:

pics will come once i get a body painted , motor, and i get Mikes chassis:rules:.......no sense in wasting thread space , it will be a few weeks though

i will hopefully have some vid. of a race coming up on the 6th of Dec. , there are a few of us here that are going to go and hopefully have enough to have a electric buggy class , i will run it as is if i need to , really dont want to let any of the guys up here down , even if it goes up in flames.........the motor is a 4.5 hvmaxx motor and runs hot and the fan on the esc. runs alot as well

ill check out that tire thread , thanks

nice job! whats the deal with the rtr caps and cut bladders? i am really happy with the stk shocks so far.

why the thick center diff fluid you should try it 5-5-5 with the brushless setup i love mine that way

entjoles 11.13.2008 12:41 AM

they are supposed to be easy to rebuild?? i bought it used and i left them as is for now

i had 5/5/5 and the quick run i gave it looked like i needed something thicker in it , i ran it with the hvmaxx 4.5 motor and with punch @ 100% anything over 1/2 throttle made the ft tires light up like crazy , up to about 30 mph or so.........

i have not ran it yet with the 10k in there so well see once i get my motor

entjoles 02.13.2009 08:49 PM

well after a long wait i finally got to order the rc-m chassis and a 2650kv motor to go with it , ill post up some pics when they get here , i am sure they will get here quick as Mike is the best

entjoles 02.20.2009 09:01 PM

parts were here yesterday, i will get to it tonight once my beer gets cold , pics later........if i dont pass out.....

entjoles 02.21.2009 12:29 PM

here it is , thanks to RCM for a great product , the only issue i have with this build is the motor , its very tight , the mesh is purfect but i can spin the front tires and the rears will spin as well and the motor wont move , those magnets are strong

Chassis = ***** 5 Stars

i also had to use the 44t spur , the 46t plastic i had seemed to rub , and i know the diff was a little wet when i tested the motor so i made a mess ;)

geared 14/44 on 4s for about 38.5 mph

i used the center diff plate i made as i didnt want to paint Mikes

i will also shorten the wires once i get a good soldering station

thanks again RCM, on with the pics
