How do you remove the coloring off the feigao?
 

My maxx is made of all silver, clear anodized (so it's not conductive) aluminum. The feigao motor really sets off the vibe with its color. I was wondering if there is anyway to remove the coloring off the can?

I came up with two strategies, but none actually work:
1. Sandpaper. If i sanded off the coloring, wouldn't the metal shavings get into the motor and become a grinding component, or even worse conductive?
2. Easy off oven cleaner. I use this for almost every part that i want to take the anodizing off of. But if some got into the motor, it would eat right through the wire insulation, and short circut the wires (since the metal is touching each other)...Right?

Thats all i can think off, i think option # 1 is my best bet, but both seem like they can harm my motor.

Why don't you just seal the bearing with some good grease and the screw holes and go for it with EZ off? The epoxy wire coating - I'm not sure - but being plastic, might resist the ez off. You might wanna test it on some cheap epoxy coated wire from Radio Shack first.

You could also buy silver/chrome heatsinks. That would cover up most of the funky color.

The fastest and the best way;

(be SURE! to use protective clothes/gloves/glasses and ONLY do it outside doors) and DONT breath the air that comes free when doing it) (must be said)

Use natriumhydroxide, use some hot water to solve it in (use about 85% hot water) and take a cloth in your protective handshoe covered hand dip it in the accid, put it on, and now you can wipe of the annodize.

Normally i dip in the anodized aluminum part, but with a motor i would not reccomend that.. ;) it's of in just 3-5 seconds.

The ez-off takes to much time (for me though)

makes it less likley that your motor will pop out of the can, adds more support, and most of all it's silver!

Mike is currently developing a device with that same purpose, and it also has got a heatsink

when is it gonna be done?

Mine will be silver as well. I should get a prototype installed this week coming and may have them available the following week. My design will look like a heatsink, but will also function as a motor clamp. It should be a nice addition to the Feigao/Hacker type motors. I will make a post when they become available.

It isn't a silver motor, it's a silver heatsink/motor clamp. It will pretty much cover half of the motor.

wait so half of the motor will still be exposed?

but the heatsinks will help keep it cool.

This item will look like and act like a heatsink, and also act as a motor clamp(to keep the endbells together).
