Best Race motor?
Okay, ima race soon so i need to know what the best motor should be. I wanna get be able to drive 15 minutes without pitting or at least get 7 minute runs for only ONE pit. Some nice speed. Coolhand recomened a 9XL, cuz it has long run times. My track is www.hobbyhut.com, look for pictures under teh RACING seciton, ti says OUTDOOR PICS. There are 2 striaghtways. What would be a good motor? woudl a hv-maxx be able to last 15 minutes? lol

theres no mor XL Feigao motors on teh product list! wats going on!??!
they were replaced with the wanderers which have better bearings. and yes, i would go with a 9xl.

How many cells do you plan to run?
The 9l you've got should do good on 12-14 cells with 1 stop. |
lol, i get les then 5 minutes right now with my gp3300s. 12 cells.
How old are they? Older cells will not provide nearly the same runtime as newer ones. How hot do the batteries get when they peak?
How many mah does your charger say it's putting in.If they're fully charged they must be getting pretty hot after a run if you're draining them in 5 mins.
Sounds like a problem with your charger/charging if it's not with the cells. |
i got a crap charger. IT does get hot after the runs, The temps for batts are like 140 while the esc/motro are 80. DUnno how old, they were used when i bought.
I'd say 9XL for the increased torque and long runtime but you should be able to get ~10 min runtime with your 9L on good 3300's or 3700's. If you run the 9Xl it would be a good idea to bump up to 14 cells.
How hot do the batteries get at the end of a charge?
He said 140 degrees, which in my opinion is too hot.
Not after charger! After im running, its at 140. I charge it til it gets a lil warm, I got a timed charger.

That's after a run. When a NiMh cell is fully charged, it will be pretty warm.
Oh.. you don't even have a peak charger? How many amps are you charging at? I would advise you to get a peak charger, so you don't overcharge your batteries..
