twin sidewinder in e-maxx

I want to install a twin sidewinder in a light e-maxx! anybody knows what fiegao s motor those sidewinder would handle? I would like to install twin 8S but not sure if these esc will handle it! i'll be running 2s lipo on each esc.
any help would help!

I'd go with dual medusa 50mm motors if you have the cash.

The little sidewinder escs are pretty good. Why not use the 5700kv motors that CC sells? If not go with a 8-9s feigao.

For what you plan to spend the MMM and neu motor combo that CC sells would be about the same price, and offer 1/2 of the complexity.... Just a thought.

do you think the sidewinder would handle the amp draw of the 8S I dont know the amp ratings of both the esc and castle motors! I know the single combo is easier and I have that now on mine but my bk warrior burnt and I want to try a twin on my gorillamaxx project! I think it would run pretty good considering it's pretty light!

I have a 9920 for sale if you are interested...

The 8s wil most likely be fine with the sidewinder.

superlightmaxx 11.12.2008 12:17 PM

how much for the 9920?

lincpimp 11.12.2008 12:21 PM

Sent you a PM with the price...

A single properly sized motor and ESC will perform just as well (probably better) without the complexity and increased points of failure than a dual BL system (of any type).

Also, the current draw on an ESC is not totally dependant on the motor wind, but the gearing, weight, terrain, ESC settings, etc.

I know it's easier and can be more powerfull to just do a single setup! been there and done that! I just want the bling and challenge of something different on my gorillamaxx. :O) thanks for your advice tought!
my gorillamaxx twin motor mount just plain looks to nice to be left with a single! :O))

plus it would really lower my center of gravity

I know a member used a pair of CC36 5600kv? motors and MM escs on 2s lipo each once in his maxx, though he siad that was too much. I think the lower kv 4700kv? motors would be better, or even the cursed V-twin setup that uses 3500kv S can motors on 3s lipo each; top speed 60mph. Im not sure if the sidewinders woud really be big enough to handle the current, might be safer with something abit larger...

BL_RV0 11.12.2008 07:38 PM

I think medusa 50mm 3300kv on 3s each would be kickass.

I`m pretty much tempted to try something different! what do you guys think if this set-up: two EZ-RUN 60A ESC & two KD 8S 9 (like fiegao but half the price) running 2s lipo each.... geared for 40mph
any comments :O)

BL_RV0 11.13.2008 10:53 AM

No, no, yes.
Sidewinders are better than EZruns, IMO.
Don't buy 2 spinning toasters of death.
2s or 3s sounds good.

Check out the finned bidproduct motors.

Scarily enough though, someone on the idiot forum is running a 9XL on 4s lipo with the 60amp EZ run esc- in an Erevo... :/
