Castle connector ?
 

I just installed my castle 5.5mm connectors on my neu motor & castle esc & i noticed something. when put the two plug halfs together there is a small gap between the two ends . I pushed as hard as i could but they will not go on anymore . Has anyone else noticed this ?.

I do not have the 5.5 but the 6.5 do not do it for me...

do you think i should use them or get another set ?. The gap is about 1/16th .

I would get another set...

This blows . There a brand new set that was sealed in the bag . By the time i pay shipping a new set is going to cost close to $15.00.

Check for any burrs on the plug or in the socket...

there are no burs . The female plug is 9.92 mm & the female plug is 10.18mm .

Are they all that way, or just one of them? I would think that as long as its secure and you have the full contact of the plug it shouldnt be a problem. I'd run it.

I don't see any issue with it. I'm disappointed with the female plugs on my new v3. Most of them are extremely loose. I am going to have to spreadt the tongs on the male connectors.

If you are getting a good fit/connection, just re do the heat shrink and slide it up a bit.

MT: i was told we ARE allowed to solder the females DIRECTLY to the MALES on the MMM plugs. i have had issues with this looseness thing and when i get my new controller back i will fill the gaps up with solder. aparently the guys testing the escs have been doing this....sounds like more resistance and more of a pain than a wire!! o well...

That's really weird...all of my 6.5mm connectors have a really tight fit. So tight, that I have a hard time pulling them apart lol, but they provide excellent contact. Perhaps Castle need to work on their tolerances a bit.

Bernie at castle & mike at rc-monster said thats sinice im getting full contact & that they are fitting tight , not to worry about it . Just redo my heat shrink to cover the exposed area .

Probably there was a bit on one of the CNC turning centers that dulled -- and it didn't alarm until sometime after it built a few bad connectors -- and then they were missed by QC (just one thousandth of an inch in tolerance can cause the issue you described...)

I'd suggest you call tech support and just get them to send you an AWR. Tell 'em Patrick sent you.

patrick this was acctually my comment . it's all good . I talked to bernie the other day . He said sinice im getting full contact that they are safe to use . but he is sending me another pair just to be sure . thank you for having great customer service. :smile:.
