Do I like speed? and other contemplations......

I like building trucks that is without a doubt. I like planning and seeing things come together. However, after several builds I am coming to the conclusion that although I love brushless the speed factor does little for me after a few passes.

What I have found is that I like driving my RC tanks around slower than molasses on an uphill climb. I also really dig the trail trucks and scale builds on rccrawler.com as well as the rock crawlers. Personally I like the technical aspect of maneuvering and crawling much more than driving off road at a rapid pace.

So with this comes the quandary: shall I keep my brushless revo and e-maxx (although the maxx is recently converted back to brushed) or should I sell for other ventures that I will spend more time with. I already sold my full FLM brushless pede ealier this year because it bored me to tears after a few times driving it.

From a financial standpoint it is silly of course because I obviously will get poor return vs investment. However, I see a hobby a a frivolous type thing anyway so the financial aspect really means little to me other than what I can afford to buy next.

First off I really see my interest piquing in rc tanks and will spend a lot of time with this weathering, modding for improvements, and doing battles as well off road maneuvering.

Second I also see myself getting into crawlers and spending a good amount of time with that as well as building one or more scale trail/crawling type trucks.

Third I find my time spent with my standard monster trucks growing smaller and smaller with my interest in that category.

Fourth and final my interest in flying rc has been growing as well.

So with all this on the table I will post a feeler out for the brushless e-revo:

MMM, 6s Flightpower Evolite 5350 mah, Tekno Neu 2.5df, JD carbon pushrods, hinge pins, and turnbuckles, Futaba 2.4ghz tx/rx, proline 40 series dish wheels and 40 series bowties, aluminum hexes, revo platinum shocks and diffs, e-revo chassis

E-maxx:

stock 3905 with 4 big bore aluminum shocks and 4 rc raven dual rate springs with 4 stock shocks and springs, TQ3 radio and stock rx, ener-G 7 cell 4600 packs

Keep one - my vote is to keep the revo - which you will regret if you sell.

I am shocked only one opinion was expressed on this. Thanks Arct1k for your post.

I think later I will buy the summit as that will fit the nitch I need for a monster truck just right.

If I go through with it my plan is to focus on my tanks and a trail truck build for the next several months. My wife and I are also looking to buy a house so that will take up some time as well. The market is ripe with fixer upper opportunities and we have found several we are very interested in.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet so I will take some time to ponder my decision.

If your interest has changed follow the change. I'd second that sell the E-Maxx.

Keep the revo, and build a crawler.

jnev 11.15.2008 05:19 PM

As everyone has said so far, I would sell the E-Maxx and keep the Revo. Although you may be tired of the speed aspect of rc at the moment, I am sure in the future you will miss it and want to try it out again. As for the time being, just build and run what you enjoy most... tanks and crawlers.

Best of luck with your purchase of a new house as well.

i am sort of in the same boat as i love building the trucks and making all these plans for them but once they run and everything its hard for me to find time to play with them.

usually i end up selling my trucks but the bug bites me later and i buy some again...

sell the maxx. keep the revo untill you NEED money. youll want to play with it sometime im sure.

mdkenley 11.15.2008 06:35 PM

if you sell the revo or the e-maxx break it up you will get more of your $ back this way.i would sell the e-maxx i sold mine to convert my revo to brushless.

lincpimp 11.15.2008 06:35 PM

Yeah, sell the maxx, and keep the revo. It is always nice to have at least one brushless MT. I really like my erevo, and plan to keep it for a while.

rootar 11.15.2008 07:00 PM

yea i didnt really know what to post when i first read this but i agree with what has already been said, atleast keep one of your mts, becasue as soon as you sell it a couple weeks later youll have the itch to go bash something around and do wheelies and hit some jumps.

but i have always loved the build just as much as playing, hell i enjoying work on the track as much as i enjoying running on it. Do what you want just dont sell anyhting youd regret. btw trail trucks are more inticing everytime i think about it.

Have you thought about making an 8 wheel monster truck? I'm pretty sure you will have fun building one.
