Finned L can?

The motor to the left is the one in question, the middle is an 8xlC and the right is a CC neu 1515.
I have never seen a finned L can before, but it came with my buddy's car. anyone have one or know what Kv they were offered in?

I think 7L-9L they made finned cans...

bustitup 11.16.2008 12:49 AM

I owned a 6l it was 4899 kv

Hmm, thanks for the help, now im curious on how it will run in a 1/8th scale buggy

lincpimp 11.16.2008 12:33 PM

I have seen alot of 9l finned cans, looking at the wire size it appears to be a 9 or 8l. Only way to find out is to run it and radar top speed, then work out the kv with the info.

I need to find a hotwheels radar gun... i think our robotics team has one lying around

BL_RV0 11.16.2008 12:50 PM

Hotwheels?

I ran the 540C 9L in a buggy on 4s back in the day. That used to be the hot setup before buggies started going toward XL cans or higher quality motors. My 9L would get hot, but typically wouldn't exceed 170 deg. F. More recently that motor was in my CRT.5. For a Feigao motor that is 3 years old, it sure performs well .

How much is it?

lincpimp 11.16.2008 01:22 PM

That radar gun is nearly impossibly to use... Buy the bushnell sport model. It is 80bucks but works great...

iour robotics team hasn't had problems picking up cars in a parking lot relatively accurately.. but its free so why not give it a shot:yes:

free is free.

It does not work well on small objects, or at anything more than straight on shots. But it is free!
