What would cause this?
I just got done running a bout a pack and a half through my truggy.. its got a hardened steel spur gear... well lets just say the spur gear won..

i was only running for 1/2hour though?
when i got it it had moderate wear but thats 5x as bad as it was |
Well, two things that I can think of:
1) Not being hardened will eat those things up fast. 2) Tooth shape. Not all Mod1 pinions are the same. If you look at Mike's old pinions, they have a different shape than the ones he has today. The old ones were made to use with a plastic spur and are shaped accordingly for proper mesh. His current pinions, along with being hardened, have a slightly different shape so they work well with both plastic spurs and steel spurs. |

ok, so a new rcm should be fine with a hardened spur?

In short: Yes.

Just placed my order for a rc-monster 13t hardened pinion :)

PS check your bearings - all that metal will have gone everywhere...
